answered a question | How to stop dogs from peeing in one area of the house? I have 4 dogs and a new home for the past 7 months. My male Shih-Tzu is 7, my female Lab is 6, my male Morky is 4 and my male Border collie is 2. My 2 youngest have started urinating in my sunroom. It’s my dining room connected to what will be my ‘Art Studio’. One big room. It’s also their access to their dog door to out back. The room has pergo wood flooring. I have large potted plants, which are mostly where they will urinate. I’ve never caught them. I have narrowed it down to the two youngest ones. Everyday, new sticky puddles. I have a spray bottle with ‘Bubba’s Pet Stain & Oder Terminator” and vinegar. I would spray the area lightly and let it dry. I then would spray mop it using those same ingredients with some bleach and dish soap added. I would also move the plants around. Everyday, same problem. I then placed their dog container in the middle between all the potted plants, as well as their 2 water dishes in the other areas where they’d urinate. Because apparently dogs won’t urinate where the eat or drink. Still, same issues everyday. I don’t understand, as the dog door is right there. I have ordered a different brand of an Enzyme based Stain/Oder eliminator as well as an added deterrent. I have not received it as of yet. One day I decided to walk around the perimeter of the room sprinkling Cinnamon Essential oil in drops. I then gently moved the oil around with a rag. Since then ZERO urine spots. My house smells like Cinnamon, which isn’t bad and far better than concentrated dog urine. I have also added Lavender oil. I’m crossing my fingers. They have also been urinating on my white Paris themed curtains, I have hanging which spits off my bedroom from the other half of the basement. Everyday, new yellow dog urine on the curtains and carpet. I would clean the curtains and floor daily. This has become what I do. I have not tried to put the Cinnamon in the spray bottle of vinegar and enzymes yet, although I’m sensing it may do the trick. The only way to get the unrine smell out of the pergo flooring would be to steam it. Either with a hand held hard surface cleaner, like the Bissell Steam-Shot or a Shark Steam Mop. I have not tried those either yet, as I have had multiple diseases plague me within 1 year 3 years ago, which I’m dealing with. I know it’s not a medical problem or the new home, since we’ve been here quite some time. It’s definitely an attention getter. Good luck. |
