asked a question | How to handle client keys? Hi Everyone, I need advice please. I had a meet and greet today and the client asked me to come back to pick up her key tomorrow and drop the key off again after my last visit because she doesn't feel comfortable with me leaving it anywhere (which I understand). However, it is quite a drive each way and an inconvenience to make separate trips to pick up and drop off the key. Every other client either gives me a garage code or a spare key. Would you charge for this? How would you handle it? |
commented answer | I overbooked myself and am supposed to sit tonight, what would you do? Yes, I do. I usually only work one day a week and have classes, so it isn't a problem. But since I need to work extra days, I can't do middle of the day walks like the client wanted. |

asked a question | I overbooked myself and am supposed to sit tonight, what would you do? Hello everyone, Last night I got a request for a dog sitting job that starts tonight. It was last minute, so I went over late at night for a meet and greet and said I could do it. But I got called into work a couple days next week, so I no longer can do it. The stay is not booked yet, we just verbally agreed. The guy was very nice. Should I send a polite message saying I am not able to do the sitting? How would you handle it? I feel so bad as I have never had to "cancel" before, even though we aren't "booked" yet. Technically, I am not obligated through a booking, I just said I could do it before this came up. Thanks! |

asked a question | What do you charge for cats? Hello everyone, I had a meet and greet that went really well for 2 sweet cats. They gave me the house key and drop-ins were to start tomorrow morning. I didn't hear from the owner so I reminded her to book before 6AM. She finally responded that she was sorry, but the price was over their budget. They thought the rate was per visit, not per cat. Doesn't Rover tell client's the total when they send the request? Also, my rate is 15 for cats and I charge 10 for the second. Rover charged my holiday fee of 18 dollars since it's Labor day. Are my prices too high? It's frustrating that they didn't read and now I'm 6 hours from when I was supposed to start the visits with no clients tomorrow because I was expecting this booking. |

asked a question | Booking score down to 50 percent after flakey requests? Hello fellow sitters! I have had a bunch of flakey requests lately. I've had lots of requests where the person messages saying something along the lines of "this is just an option I'm considering, I'm not sure what I want to do with my pet yet." Then, they say they ended up boarding their animal or doing something else. This has caused my booking rate for dog walking to drop to 50 percent. How is this fair at all considering I can't control fall through requests from people that are just exploring their options or who I could tell never were serious in the first place? And how can I fix this? The Rover algorithm makes no sense to me. Thanks guys! |
