answered a question | Can I be just drop-ins sitter for just cats? Hi Cindy, Rover does have cat clients, and I cat-sit only. I joined in December 2017 and have had 17 clients so far, with several repeat bookings. I would put "cat" in your headline and bio/description. I'm interested: how have you fared since you posted? Cheers, Erika |
answered a question | Do you Pay your sitter a Gratuity? Hi Pramodh, It does not seem customary, probably because leaving a tip would require assessing the sitter before the booking has been completed - unlike a waiter or maid or hairdresser, for example. However, if the sitter has been booked after a meet-and-greet, I think a tip is appropriate just to compensate somewhat for the sitter's unpaid time and effort. Erika |
answered a question | Does Anyone Else Give Clients Thank-You Notes? I usually leave a note even though I've been texting updates throughout. I use the handwritten note as a personal touch and I always include the request for a review on http://Rover.com if they were happy with my care. Seems to be working! |
commented answer | How do you show up on the sitter search? Actually, I do show up in results even while I'm logged in. i have a pet, so I do a search for sitters in my area, and i show up in the results without having to log out. |
commented answer | Do you Pay your sitter a Gratuity? I strongly agree with Kimberly, above. It would be more than appropriate for Rover to provide a way for clients to tip their sitters after they return home. Some kind of wallet or paypal link or something. We don't make a lot of money for the responsibility and care! |
commented question | can you meet the sitter before you pay? As a sitter, I generally find it helpful to meet-and-greet. However, it does basically constitute a free drop-in - sitters are not compensated. This does bother me a bit. I think it would be nice if pet owners didn't take their time for granted and left a tip for the booked sitter. |
