commented question | Dog sitting is no different then any other services based profession such as a hair stylist or waiter. Why are soo many sitters selling themselves short by not expecting a tip? Great idea! I am not sure about leaving the card in advance, it feels less like a "tip for good service" but I looked online and you can get Visa ecards that include a little video, one is a thank you from a dog, and the fee is less than 3 dollars. Thanks for the idea! |
answered a question | After Stay: Thank you/goodie bags? As a client, I would be absolutely thrilled with something simple and personal, especially cute would be a picture of you and/or your dog(s) (if applicable) with my dog in a little magnetic frame with a note to my dog and me "suggesting" we look at the picture next time you will sitting to remind my dog how much fun they had! You can even print stickers for the frame with your contact information to make it that much easier to hire you again! Print the pic on the computer, use Oriental Trading to order magnetic frames, buy some clear labels to add info/cute images to frame, the whole gift would cost less than $2 but worth every penny in repeat customers and referrals!! If you want more of a bag, put in a tennis ball or frisbee and write the dogs name on it (sharpie, cute writing), anything personalized (by you, cheap!) would make me feel like you care a little extra about my dog! |
commented question | Dog sitting is no different then any other services based profession such as a hair stylist or waiter. Why are soo many sitters selling themselves short by not expecting a tip? Hi! Any advice for how (logistically) to tip a sitter if they are doing drop-in visits? We won't see each other at the end of the service, should I mail a tip? |
asked a question | How long does a sitter (typically) stay per visit? If our sitter is coming two times a day to feed our dog (and guinea pig), how long should I assume she will be at the house each visit? Our dog is older, so no walks. We are paying the normal nightly fee she charges if our dog stayed at her house, which is great (I know it's a pain to drive over), but I was just wondering how much time is a typical visit? |
