answered a question | Why did my puppy start pooping in his crate after several days with no problems? Sounds like he just had to go potty. Puppies cannot hold themselves all night like an adult dog can. I'd also advise to take your dog to the vet to make sure there are no health issues that could be causing this. However, puppies need to be taken out very frequently and if they are going potty in the crate it's likely because they have to go. Take them outside more frequently and praise them when they go. Good luck. Puppies are tough and you will have accidents. It happens. Eventually you will get there and they will be old enough to sleep through the night without needing to go potty! |
commented answer | Dealing with overbearing owner wanting to chat on phone everyday, what do I do? Please call Rover to let them know you came 2 days earlier. They should be able to help you |
commented answer | What does everyone include in there overnight stay booking? Can you share some of your experiences that turned you off from sitting in their homes? Wondering as I only offer services outside of my home, I cannot do services in my own home. Thanks!! |
answered a question | Pay Pal doesn't report income to the IRS if under $20K or 200 transaction? That only means that PayPal is not required by law to report to the IRS. You are still required to report all income. If Rover was your only source of income it's possible you are not required to file taxes. However, I am not a tax professional, so you should consult with one to be sure. To be clear, if you are filing taxes you need to report your Rover income and pay taxes on that. |
answered a question | Should I confront sitter about her dog peeing on my dog’s bed? While people are correct that you cannot keep an eye on dogs 24/7 I do think it's a little concerning the sitter didn't notice the accident. The bed would have been visibly wet and likely have smelled very bad. I personally have allergies so my nose is frequently clogged so I may not have smelled it. However, I do not think it's fair to assume it was most likely not your dog. Your dog was away from their owner, away from their home, in a whole new environment , and with a dog they didn't know. That is all very stressful for a dog and could've easily caused an accident. Whether or not your dog has had accidents in the past doesn't matter, this was a completely different situation. I would also let it go because it has been so long, and there's a big chance it was your dog. It sounds like you would be better off booking with sitters who come to your home in the future. It will be less stressful for your dog and you don't have to worry about another animal unknown to the both of you. I would personally want my pets watched in my own home as well. In fact, I don't offer any services at my own home, I always go to the clients home. Best of luck in your future services! |
commented question | How do I become a dog walker, not a dogsitter? You choose each service you offer. Only add dog walking. It won't be a problem. I personally do not offer any types of services at my home, so I just did not select those services when I made my account. As previously mentioned, don't be alarmed if you're referred to as a sitter, it's standard. |
commented question | How do I set a holiday rate for a non-Rover approved holiday? When you receive a booking, there is a button to modify your prices. Under that you would select holiday rate under each pet. However please advise any owners that such and such time is a holiday and will be charge accordingly before you do it. |
commented question | Is there a way to rate owners? I'm sorry this happened, but in the future you need to book the stay before you consider it final. The stay wasn't actually booked. My reccomendation is to always hit book it after discussing with an owner. Also take a look at your cancellation policy and update if needed! |
commented question | Do you charge per dog for dog walking? Yes I do. I would not charge the full rate for both dogs, however I would charge an additional amount. Just for an example if I charged $10 for each dog, the owners additional dog would be $5. That's not my actual rate- just an example demonstrating. After all, it is more work with an extra dog! |
