commented answer | My dog is limpimg after chasing a ball. How long before taking to vet? TPLO surgery today. Going to be a rough, emotional draining 4 months ahead. Our other dog had a repair 2 years ago too. So we have experience. But doesn't lessen the anguish. Poor baby. We just wanted to help her lose some weight with exercise but got a major injury instead. Sigh Thanks for the help |

commented answer | My dog is limpimg after chasing a ball. How long before taking to vet? The vet has trouble examining her but does suspect a tear. We will be bringing her back again later when the vet has a break for further examination and xrays with sedation. Lets hope its just a partial tear. |

asked a question | My dog is limpimg after chasing a ball. How long before taking to vet? Yesterday morning we were playing fetch with Lilly (8yo) on grass and she suddenly started to limp in her hind leg. She puts some weight on it but not fully. We checked her paws and stretched her leg out but we cannot locate her pain area. Today is day 2 and she is still limping. Shes been put on rest and only getting up to relieve herself. Is it possibly just a sprain or strain? How long before I should take her to a vet if theres no improvement? Thank you! |

commented answer | My dog limps after getting up from laying down? Help? Thanks again for reply. Lilly is the same. Still some lameness in her right hind leg after getting up from laying down. It looked like it was getting a little better bit last night the degree of lameness seemed to not have improved. We started giving her cosequin and fish oil is on its way. |

commented answer | My dog limps after getting up from laying down? Help? Thank you sooo much for your reply Erin. My vet did not mention glucosamine supplements however I did look into and found the 2 brands you mentioned. I almost purchased it however wanted to speak to my vet first. I read about fish oil too. Any brand you prefer? The lameness hasn't gone away :( |
asked a question | My dog limps after getting up from laying down? Help? Hello all...My nearly 8yo terrier mix Lilly has been limping for several steps, every time she gets up from laying down. The limp/lameness in her right hind leg goes away after she walks around for a little bit. Checked her paws and there's nothing stuck. Her toenails looks fine too. She bunny hops when she runs but that's been the case since we rescued her at 2yo. This has been ongoing for about 2 weeks. No strenuous activity prior to noticing the limp. Took her to the vet 2 days ago. Vet examined her and said her kneecaps are where it should be and he did not see anything obvious. Sent me home with anti inflammatory meds and pain reliever. This is only her second day on meds...still limps after getting up from her rest. Has anyone here experienced these symptoms with your babies? If so, what was the diagnosis? I'm guessing it's arthritis for Lilly. Will probably need to bring her back for xrays after finishing off the meds and her limp doesn't improve. It pains me every time I see her limp. She doesn't seem to be in pain but I know they are master's at masking their pain. Thanks in advance for any input! |
