commented question How Can I Connect to Sitters in My Own City?

Hey Jessica, I am here in DFW also and cover Euless, Grand Prairie, Arlington, GRapevine, Beford, Southlake, Colleyville, and maybe Mansfield. As I have just re-located and am looking for a new full time job, I may need a back up sometime or a sitter for my cat if I am traveling without her.

commented question How do I deter a non-neutered male client from humping my females?

agree with Renee, if you are like me and don't have clicker, I also recommend you pull him off saying leave it or no and if he stays away for even 20 seconds give treat reward saying good boy. Also I would let owners know and perhaps get permission to use water bottle and do one water squirt .

answered a question How to tell family I can't watch their dog in my home agin?

Honesty is the best policy but try to do it with tact. I am a little surprised that if this dog is smaller that your dogs can't handle him/her themselves. Make sure that you share, if you have not already, exactly some of the behaviors that their dog did at your place. Especially the potty stories. Maybe change your routine with dog if time and always bring on walk after eating and not let out in your yard and only on leash. Also, consider you did not ask enough questions before you took in this dog and NEXT time have person always come to your home to meet your dogs on their territory. Finally just politely tell them that you did not feel like your home/and dog was the right fit for their dog. Don't say their dog should not be boarded at someone's home. You only know how dog reacted with you and your home. Others may not experience the same as you. Hope that helps.

answered a question Do sitters charge extra for adminstrating medicine (both oral and injection) to dogs that they host?

I would not and include it as part of your service. It will assure you get more recommendations and it is the right thing to do. After all you should not care for a dog you are not comfortable caring for in your own home. If you did decide to charge I would talk about this upfront and it should be minimal charge and expect the owners to maybe ask why or to not use you.

answered a question What should I charge for longer daytime visits?

I recently have done this and this is what I did/suggest. My owners did not think their dogs could go 4 hours without potty break because someone is home a lot and lets them out more frequent then that. So I charged for 2 daily visits instead of one and agreed to stay up to 4 hours in a row IF I could do work from their home on my computer or on some days did 1 hour each stay instead of 30 minutes and only 2-3 hours between visits. This worked for the owner and me.

asked a question One time client had one of her dogs die in surgery this past week. I sit for her other two dogs again this weekend. With a limited budget in mind is there anything I could give/or do other than a condolence card to show support/love?

I don't know owner well, but of course feel awful and want to know if I should try to do more than a card. This just happened last week. Any creative ideas of what I could do to help show support or commemorate this dog?

commented answer How long does it take an adopted 2 year dog to become acclimated to their new home?

2 year olds still need training and I agree that you may have to supervise more when with your other dog and consider putting on a handle leash inside so you can pull her away quick if needed. You have to really work with dogs for 2-3 months in my experience. Work with her 2 times per day for 10 min

commented question /how to write review on one of the sitter if she didnot walk my dog via Rove.com?

She has to send you a link I believe. Ask her to do that for you. Before I started walking for clients I had 3 reviews from friends that I had walked or cared for their animals for free or because I was living with them. They all wrote me reviews but as I recall I had to send them something.

answered a question Rover as job experience?

I believe that it would be best to list Rover as how you provide your dog sitting service, list yourself as supervisor and give your account info so they can check your profile and see some of you reviews. You could also ask 1 or 2 of your clients if they would be willing to reference your work and perhaps they would give you their email or phone number?

answered a question why am I getting requests from people outside my maximum distance I'll travel?

Just today that happened to me, but I got a note from Rover when I looked at the details saying they knew it was outside of my range but they thought I might want to take it. So I would double check my settings and make sure you always do meet and greet or don't accept until you have verified address. I am surprised that this has happened.

answered a question I just received my first negative review which not only false and based on accusations that were not even remotely true. Is there a policy to remove bogus reviews?

I agree with others that you should, if you have not already, ask for Rover to remove your friend and other clients comments to support you, Write a neutral comment to the lady and remember that you advertise that you take on difficult dogs...I think it is awful you were bit and maybe you should just let it go as I would never pay attention to one bad review even if someone only had 10 other great reviews. I would know it was the person or some fluke. I hope you really know what an awesome sitter you are and don't let this jade you in any way.

answered a question How long does it typically take for a profile to get approved?

Well if I remember correctly pretty quickly depending if you have some references and the back ground check completed. Just write to Rover and ask them what if anything is holding things up.

commented question House Sitting Expectations vs. Dog Sitting Expectations?

Some of their requests are normal and you should do if you are spending the night: mail, water plants, take out trash and leave place as clean as when you arrived. Now IF you are in basement strip bed and clean, if not I would nicely say I would be glad to do this for an additional $20 or some fee.
