answered a question | Does Rover send a notification to pet owners to review a sitter after the stay is over? Even though it says the conversation is closed, you can actually still send the client a message through the Rover messaging system. |

asked a question | How to keep your dog from peeing while putting on leash I have a four year old Chihuahua who I got from a breeder when he was a baby. I believe he was mistreated, abused, and/or neglected. Every time I put on his leash to take him outside to go to the bathroom, he pees in the house. I believe he feels like he is getting in trouble because his ears go back and he looks very frightened. Has anyone else experienced this? Or know what might be causing it? I have tried everything and don't know what else to do. |
answered a question | How does payment for services work? Hi Sharon, The customer pays Rover directly on the agreed upon amount and then you receive the funds 48 hours after the sitting is complete. Rover's fee is 15% of your total earnings from the sitting job, which they automatically take out before your funds are released.. You can either transfer the funds to your PayPal account or request a check for a fee. |
answered a question | As a sitter, Can I choose to only sit at the owners home? Hi Hannah, You can absolutely choose to only provide traveling pet sitting in the owners home. When you sign up to be a sitter, you have the option of stating whether or not you would like to board dogs in your own home (home sitting) or traveling sitting in the owner's home. As a sitter myself, I only provide overnight care in the owner's home due to the fact I live in an apartment. Some sitters do offer both options, but it is completely okay to only offer traveling sitting if that is your preference. When potential clients do a search for traveling sitters, your listing will show up stating that you only offer overnight care in the owner's home. |
answered a question | What Does the Fee Include? Becky, As a traveling sitter who comes to your home to care for your pets, I charge a daycare fee of $25 if the client needs me to stay past noon on the last day of the stay. Due to the fact we are paid nightly, I instituted the daycare fee in case my clients need me to stay past noon so I can ensure the pets in my care are taken care of until the owners arrive home. |
answered a question | Tipping your dog sitter As a sitter, in my experience, most clients do not tip me. There have been a few occasions where I have been tipped, the most being $100 and the least being $20. I am not sure if there is an average tip, but I do think that most clients don't think about tipping once the sitting is complete. |
