commented question | What services are included in a night of dogsitting? I am also new to Rover. I am very shocked at what people charge. After paying business taxes on $30-$35 per night makes the end amount almost nothing. If you are house sitting and you are at the client's house for 24 hours your hourly wage is say, 80 CENTS BEFORE tax You are worth more than that. |
commented answer | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? The quote above is absolutely true. It's considered a business and it is illegal to run a business without a license, especially if you are doing any kind of boarding. It takes just one ticked off client to turn you in for fraud. My accountant explained this and it scared the crap out of me. |
answered a question | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? I am in Palm Bay. My Palm Bay City business license says: Restriction:NO KENNELING AT LOCATION and Comments: OFFICE ONLY-NO CLIENTELE AT LOCATION That's why she said that. Your business license might say the same thing. My homeowner's insurance has absolutely nothing to do with my business insurance. |
answered a question | How long after being neutered is it physically safe for dogs to mate? Maybe I'm missing something. Dogs don't mate after they're neutered(or spayed). Like I said, maybe I'm missing something. |
commented question | What are "must haves" for doing this full time? A business license for one thing. Taking money under the table can get you into a lot of trouble. Get insured and bonded(even if it's just you). ESPECIALLY if you're doing it full time. You have to pay taxes on what you get after Rover takes their commission. It sucks, but it's true. |
