answered a question Am I being too polite/flexible with booking?

you can ask for a deposit of say a couple of days. this would hold a spot and not be a financial burden. if you have a flexible cancellation policy they would receive a full refund. this may nudge them to respond quicker.

asked a question why are sitters with no reviews ranked so high in search ?

been a dog sitter with rover almost 4yrs. love dogs but it can be a bit much at times. need a social life outside . feeling burned out . what would you do take a long break or quit

answered a question Rover ad on Craigslist keeps getting flagged?

craigslist charges 25.00 for ads posted in some markets. so since rover is not paying craigslist your ad will get flagged. even thou you are not a employee of rover you are soliciting business thru them . obviously rover will not pay you to send business to them which is actually you as a independent business owner

asked a question any sitters watch small dogs only?

just wondering if anyone has gotten to the point where they have built up a client base and only watch regular customer dogs only. iam doing this now because I prefer to kept myself available to keep my regular customers happy. I prefer this over meet and greets with new customers and having to turn away a regular client because I only watch 2 dogs at a time . anyone else doing this

answered a question Do you think Rover will ever update bookings to include pick up and drop off times?

I think some of the dog owners think you are unemployed or hang out at home all day with no life of your own. they probably would not do that to friends that are watching their dog for free but since they are paying you they want you available at their convenience. what I have done is raise my rates so it balances out clients who are on time and those who are always late with pickup times. running a business has its ups and downs, you have to take the good with the bad

answered a question Can a couple work together as dogsitting partners through rover?

my name is on the account but my family of 4 take turns watching the dogs so it helps that at times we have 4 people watching the dogs. always one of us at home.

asked a question watching regular customer only

any sitters out there that only accept regular customers. just wanted to know if it is a good idea after you build up a customer base.since I only watch 2 dogs at a time I find myself turning away a lot of regulars because of my 2 dog limit. I accept new dogs then a regular customer wants me to sit there dog and I end up declining there request. I figure it is bad for my search ranking and bad for business also. any suggestions

answered a question I just moved--how do I keep my clients?

I live in the Chicago suburbs. I have a repeat customer that lives in ann arbor Michigan 4 hrs away from me. she travels to Chicago 4 times a year on business. she prefers to bring her dog a golden retriever to stay with my golden retrievers. I have another customer that lives in st Louis missiouri that travels 6 hrs to visit family in the Chicago suburbs that I have watched. I quess if they really like your profile and the service you provide for them then they would rather travel with their dog than leave them at home and find a sitter at home.

asked a question Multiple dogs watched at one time?

Hi , just wanted to know how many sitters watch more than a few dogs at a time and have they had any problems with dogs getting along with each other. such as food aggression. The reason I ask is during meet and greets, most owners say my dog is fine with any dog no problems
