answered a question | I am trying to schedule a meet & greet, and I am not getting an option on line. Also, am I allowed to conduct interviews with more than one sitter? I would just throw the option for a meet and greet and potential dates right in the message to them =) As a pet sitter, I'm the one who always has to initiate the meet & greet in Rover. Also, I've always been "interviewed" as one of a few potential sitters so do what's best for you! |
commented question | I don't want to be pet sitter because i want to be dog walker? I'm not allowed pets in my home due to my lease agreement, but business has been fantastic with just drop-in's and overnight stays at the owner's house =) good luck! |
answered a question | Are sittters and walkers required to fill out and send a Rover card? I don't see it for every owner that I do the drop ins for, I'm guessing they request it if they want them. If I have to visit 3 or more times a day, I usually message them saying I will do one or two for the whole day as a summary. When I used to do it every single time, every owner told me to just do one or two since it was a bit overwhelming (and usually always the SAME info lol) |
answered a question | When you do a meet and greet with a potential client for an overnight stay should they disclose to you if there are cameras in the house? They don't but I ALWAYS mention previous clients of mine who did have them in hopes that they will then say, "me too!" or "no cameras here!" LOL In my instances thus far, the owners have mentioned it to me first and its usually pointed right where the animal stays majority of their day. If they had them pointed anywhere I'd be sleeping....well, I wouldn't take that stay honestly. |
answered a question | Can you give a review for drop-in visits? You can also message the sitter and they can "request" a review from you. It'll send you a link and you can then leave them a review =) good luck! |
answered a question | Can I be just a cat sitter? Absolutely! Definitely state that in your profile about me section as well. Personally, for every 5 requests, one is always a cat LOL so it can be so different anywhere! Also, if you advertise and share your profile, make sure to state that you specialize in cat sitting. |
commented question | How do I interview the sitter? You can always message back&forth to see if a meet & greet is beneficial for you guys or you can just set up the meet & greet and discuss in person. I've had about quite a few and commonly they all ask my experience, how recent I've sat and go over what they need me to provide during overnights, etc |
answered a question | how long should i wait to inquire about a stay? Personally, once I respond I leave it at that. I wait until they reach back out. If it's been a few days (2-3) and no response, I might send a message if they found someone but it depends, for me, how much we spoke. If they owner had a conversation with me describing their pet and what they need and mentioning the want to have a meet and greet, I'll do the follow up. But other than that, I'd just let it sit for a few days and archive it for no response. |
commented question | raising rates? hi! no, it shouldn't if it's already booked and paid for =) |
answered a question | Should I charge extra for a client who wants me to stay with her pup full-time for two weeks? If they want you to stay during the day as well, I would absolutely charge more. Usually an overnight is 24 hours of care but if you have to leave the house or work, that's also included. If they say to literally stay I'd add another $15-$25 to your daily fee. |
answered a question | Do sitters hit Book It before or after their meet and greet? I definitely require a m&g beforehand. I've also had people just book the visit but I still ask that a m&g be done either way. |
answered a question | Do you check in and check out at every visit? It really depends. I ask the owners each time if I see they request them and majority of the time, they tell me they just want one card a day and I can leave the day's overview in the comments/notes section. 4 cards a day is quite a lot. |
answered a question | Client wants to do a meet and great with out their pet? NO WAY! you're doing the stay or visit with the dog...the dog needs to be there lol otherwise, it seems creepy to me. |
answered a question | Narrow Down Service Area, Repeat Clients? Rover will still send you the message but will give you like a pre-message saying this client doesn't meet your requirements but you can still see the message. You can definitely re-book with them. |
answered a question | What do I do if I don’t like a dog during a stay? If you already agree and they paid for the rest of the visits, then definitely I would continue to do those. But absolutely for the next time, if there is one, let the owner know you may not be able to help since you're uncomfortable with the jumping. Also, when Rover shows you completed the stay, you can make a note in there about the dog's behavior. Don't worry, the owner DOES NOT see this! lol! But it's helped me before and I'm like "ohhhh yea that dog hmmmm" =P |
answered a question | I do not understand how you can book a dog that has been with you before? Aren't the owners the ones that schedule their dog with us? I usually go ahead and rebook for the owner. I get a lot of texts or messages and I will go ahead and just put it through for them. |
answered a question | What do you do? You have to tell the owner about the dog's behavior for your safety and for other sitters' safety, |
answered a question | How do I get my previous client to leave me a review? If you already reached out again requesting a review and they didn't do it, i'd personally just let it go. If you have their phone number maybe a last resort text message. But I wouldn't worry about it. If you have anyone you did before Rover or not through Rover like family & friends, you can also request they leave you a review. =) |

answered a question | Do you charge per dog for dog walking? I think $3-5 for each additional dog is a good rate. |
answered a question | How do feel when you have lost a customer? Definitely don't take it personally, there are plenty of other pets out there! |
