commented answer | What questions do you ask for house sitting? In addition to the great questions above, I always ask if dogs have a favorite toy or any odd quirks that I should/should not worry about. Others include if they have separation anxiety, if they have been away from owners before, and if their background fencing is secure. |
commented question | How do I let customers write reviews about my service? Hey Maya, your clients should receive an email a couple days after the service has ended. If you leave notes after working with their pup, you can always say that you'd appreciate a review and look forward to seeing their dog again. Hope this helped! |
commented question | How many visits do you require a day for extended drop-in care for dogs? hours apart so that she can pee at regular intervals. I use the half hour I have there wisely, but sometimes do stay longer than needed just so she has some company. I would just discuss with the client and try to reason with them a little about the care their dog needs. |
commented question | How many visits do you require a day for extended drop-in care for dogs? My very first client was of this nature. He works out of town every week ad has become my first (and only so far) repeat client. I changed our deal from house sitting to 2 drop ins per day, as he was one of many on Rover who do not understand how the system works. I schedule my visits roughly 12... |

answered a question | Can someone list all 7 of their pets as a single dog? No no no.... heck no. This client is probably new to the Rover scene and does not understand how to set up their profile yet, as I had a client like this. I would just explain how to set up their profile, as there are options to add dogs, cats, etc. I would probably have that conversation BEFORE you set up a meet and greet, simply to ensure that they are willing to pay more (considering all the extra work you would be doing for them). You can always change the quote for what you would be charging as well, if you did want to make a discount (I would not)l. Good luck! Best, Maddy |
commented question | Would you wear a Rover baseball hat? I would be interested in the hat, but only if they are not too expensive. I just bought my first Rover tshirt today and was surprised at how expensive it was considering that we are not only advertising ourselves but also the company as a whole. |
answered a question | Anxious dog won't stop pacing and whining. We've tried nearly everything. What should we do now? I have to agree with Deb. Being in a new place can certainly be frightening to a pup, so perhaps taking care of the dogs in their own home would help her to calm down and let you take care of her. My only other suggestion would be to get one of the "calming collars" for dogs. One of my own dogs back home has gone mostly blind and deaf in her old age and as a result has terrible anxiety, but the collars have helped her tremendously. Hopefully everything will work out for you guys! |
answered a question | How long does it generally take to complete background? Hey Anne, I hope it's gone through by now, as mine only took a couple of days to go through! Good Luck! Best, Maddy |

asked a question | I'm about to finish house sitting a new dog, but i just noticed her limping slightly? When I examined her paws, she has some little tears (no blood or anything) on the pads of her feet. She was acting normal during our walk (majority of it on pavement, although I made sure there was no broken glass or other materials) so I did not realize that this was an issue. Any tips on what to do or how to tell the owner? |
