answered a question | Why does my dog bury bones? Although our pet dogs have been domesticated practically since humans stopped dragging their knuckles on the ground, they still have a lot of the traits displayed by their wild wolf cousins. They hide bones so that they will have something out by for when there is a shortage. If there is ever a rawhide famine, our dogs will be able to find their stashes in our couches. |
answered a question | Why is my dog throwing up bile? My dog, Red, does this from time to time as well. He is an extremely picky eater, and will sometimes refuse dog food of any kind (yes, yes, we've tried all the expansive brands, canned stuff, raw, hand feeding, etc etc). After a couple of days of eating little to nothing, he will throw up bile. Our vet told us he does that because he has nothing in his stomach. Then she will tell us the standard line, " When he's hungry, he'll eat." In our case, Red was still at an acceptable weight - and then some - so the vet wasn't too concerned. If I were you, I'd check with your vet to make sure nothing is seriously wrong, but until you get that appointment, don't fret too much. |
answered a question | Is my dog gay? For dogs, that behavior indicates dominance. When a dog, male or female, displays that humping action, they are trying to become the pack leader. |
