commented answer Issues with no shows at meet and greets. How to avoid?

I switched my cancellation policy to "strict" after repeatedly having this done to me. What aggravates me is that the owner doesn't even give me a heads up before canceling, I just get the notice from Rover. It just happened again today. I won't accept repeat bookings from customers that do that.

answered a question Losing Business for Preferring Meet and Greets?

This happens to me all the time, and I immediately respond to almost all requests. As soon as they send one request, Rover prompts them to send another, and another an so on. Don't take it personal, keep asking for meet & greets.

answered a question Overnights worth it?

I never stay 24hrs at a customers home and most don't expect it. Most people are realistic and realize most sitters have a day job. I host daycare in my own home and can only stay at a customers house a maximum of 12 hrs, but I will do an additional drop-in during the 24hr period and my price reflects that.

answered a question Only accepting repeat clients?

I switched my house sitting service to repeat clients only and I still receive requests from new customers.

answered a question What is your maximum distance you are willing to travel?

I will only travel 5 miles but Rover still allows my profile to come up in customers searches that are outside my radius so I still have to decline a lot of requests. I've asked them to change this but all they tell me is "it won't count against your booking rating". It took awhile but I get plenty of jobs within my radius now to where it truly isn't worthwhile traveling any further.

commented answer When does the Report Card system go into effect?

I've already experienced glitches with Rover (showed up at a m&g when customer canceled) to where I don't feel comfortable with this being mandatory. I also don't like being micro managed. I already keep my own log and communicate with my customers to where Rover cards are completely unnecessary.

commented answer Security/safety of the sitters with new "report" cards?

Both my mother and I are Rover sitters and completely agree with these concerns. As well as not getting paid if there's any glitch in the system, something I've experienced first hand. I would like to know the exact date this goes into effect so that I know when to discontinue these services.

commented answer How do you charge a mileage fee?

You can adjust rate before accepting reservation and just explain to the customer what the extra amount is for.

commented answer Is it right to be annoyed when pet owners deliberately don't mention behavior?

I contacted the customer and they were aware of this behavior but didn't bother mentioning it. I reported it to Rover and they followed up with the owners but they haven't been removed from the site. Unfortunately another unsuspecting sitter will get stuck with that pup.

commented answer Is it right to be annoyed when pet owners deliberately don't mention behavior?

This is why I wish Rover would let sitters share reviews of dogs. I had a week long stay with A pup who seemed easy going up until it was time to come in the house. She'd run off, once I'd get a hold of her collar, she'd start yelping and and standing on her hind legs and even bit me.
