Our small dog had a real problem with jumping when I would get home from work. I knew he was excited to see me and the last thing I wanted was to have to discipline him or turn away from him right then. But having to replace my leggings, tights or pantyhose on a daily basis gave me the incentive to really try. I would tell him "no jumping" before I opened the door and would hold a large purse in front of me that prevented him from jumping. Since he couldn't jump I was able to tell him"good boy for not jumping Chippee" and he 'got it' in a couple of days .
