answered a question | Does Rover charge an extra fee for additional dogs? It's probably from their booking fee. You can set your rate for additional dogs too |
answered a question | Cooking for dogs? I would be really careful with that because of the "what if something happens to the dog", they can always blame what you feed them. I would encourage them bringing the food already cooked, maybe frozen for long term stays, just so there is less room for error and of course to save you time and effort. |
answered a question | Do you think their should be an "additional service" option for small animals? I definitely agree. One of my clients was asking if I could take in her pet rabbit along with her dog but since there wasn't an option for "other pet" I apologized and told her I wouldn't be able to. |
answered a question | Do you agree with Rover Cards? Definitely agree that they should NOT be mandatory. |
answered a question | Charging for walking multiple dogs? You should be charging per walk per dog. Just like boarding or sitting is per stay. You could work with the owner and do a package deal and reduce the two other walks maybe $2 or so but you should definitely be charging individually. |
answered a question | Did I handle this the right way? Terrified of bad review? You get a chance to review the dog that only Rover sees, you should add all the details in there. Don't worry about one bad review. I got a 4 star review from an owner with an aggressive dog who we kept for a week and the entire time did not hear anything from the owner. I was worried he wasn't going to pick her up at the end of the stay. His words in the review were positive but for some reason he felt my service was 4 starred. |
answered a question | Clients asking for reduced price? I haven't had a situation where a client tries to negotiate the price but if I did I would let them know the rate is set and there isn't a way to modify it. Unless there are additional dogs involved or it is a lengthy stay then we could work around the rate. |

answered a question | Do you take in dogs without meet and greet? I always encourage meet and greets but sometimes the requests can be so sudden that there's no time. Always ask to at least see their vaccine record to make sure they are up to date. |
commented question | What materials do I need to have for house sitting? It is up to you. Usually every client brings in their pets favorite toy, blanket, treats etc. What I do recommend is having plenty of cleaning supplies around for those accidents and air fresheners! |
answered a question | Why is my dog sneezing? Just like humans dogs sneeze due to many reasons. It's normal unless mucus or other discharges are present. |
answered a question | Why does my dog hump my cat? Humping is a way for them to release sexual tension or when it's that time of the month. Just like they hump pillows or stuffedit animals. Getting them spayed/neutered could help reduce or eliminate that behavior. You could also reinforce commands such as "no" or "stop" when your dog does that. |
