answered a question Does anyone get a "Tip" when booking a stay?

Every booking i've gotten a 'tip'. I think theyre just pointers and hints to help you be more successful!

answered a question If I buy a Yard/Lawn sign where am I allowed to post it?

I put up yard signs in my yard and in friends yards. As long as you ask permission from whoever owns the yard you should be okay. I have also put signs up on corners that no one owns where other signs have been and a while after it was gone. Just put them in places you think wouldn't be a problem!

answered a question How long (in minutes) is considered a "long" walk?

Since Rover requires at least a 30 minute walk I consider anything over an hour a long walk. Depending on the size of the dog I always try and decide how long I should go so the dog really benefits from it!

answered a question Anyone else notice insanely low rates from other Rover sitters?

I'm not sure if everyone who charges a low fee has the same mindset as I did but I started on Rover about 8 months ago and charged way under what most people were in my area. When I was first starting I didn't have any references and my idea was to charge a low fee and then more people would want to hire me. It took about 5 months to actually get some clients but when I started getting reviews I upped my rates and kept getting more offers. I don't know maybe people are charging low rates to try and build clientele.

answered a question Giving a dog a bad rating?

First you should know that when you "rate" a dog it's basically for yourself to remember how the dog was/important things. Only you (and Rover) can see the rating. Ive given multiple dogs bad ratings because the whole stay was basically a nightmare, similar things that happened to you. So when I get a request from that client I can see past ratings and decide if I want to watch them again. A little tip, when you're meeting clients for the first time ask a lot of questions even if they seem over the top. Some owners leave out things about their dog because they just don't think to mention it because they're use to it. Also when house-sitting always ask for a tour. See every room in the house & figure out if it's a place you would want to stay! But I agree, I wish we could see ratings from other sitters. It would give an even more in depth description of the dog & wht you're getting into.
