answered a question | Is it okay to remove your dog's eye gunk with your fingers? You really shouldn't use your hands, the eye area is very delicate. Best to use a cotton ball dipped in warm water to clean the eye area. There are also wipes made for cleaning dogs eyes. Keep the hair near the eyes short that's helps with keeping it clean. There is also small combs made for the eye area. |
answered a question | How should you take care of a Yorkie? Yorkie are wonderful little dogs. Big personalities in a little bodies. They do require a good amount of maintenance. They need regular visits to the groomer. If you like a longer coat that requires dailey brushing. Also they have hair not fur so they need to be bathed more often than dogs with fur. And because they have hair they do get cold quickly. Also use a harness as you don't want any pressure on their throats. Many Yorkies have trachea issues which is very common for the breed. They are prone to dental issues so having their teeth checked and dentals every few years is a must. Because of their small size they do best with a very small kibble made for small or toy breeds. The same with treats, small. You have to be careful, they can escape easily due to their small size so make sure the yard is secure, no small openings that they can squeeze through. And give them lots of love. |

answered a question | Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my client's dog to quit marking all the furniture in the house? He is a really sweet loving dog and I want to keep watching him but I don't want him to ruin the furniture......? When cleaning up accidents make sure you are using a cleaner with the enzymes to remove the urine oder. Watch him closely and when you catch him lifting his leg reprimand him or make a loud noise. I always use a belly band on the male dogs when the cone into the house, they are life savers. |
