answered a question | I have completed a sitting job and I still have a pending balance, its been 2 days now? In addition to the 48 hours, everyone else has mentioned you should also check to see that your Rover fees are all paid (insurance that is paid as you go through the app) It wasn't clear to me at first that the reason I wasn't getting paid was because I hadn't finished paying off my dues to Rover. |
answered a question | Where do you hold your meet-and-greets? For my dog walks I usually request we meet in a local park because then if it doesn't seem right there isn't the added question of me being in their home. Then before our first walk (if we choose to proceed) I arrive about 10-15 minutes earlier than necessary to go over the location of important items/cleaning products etc. I have met in a client's home before so I'm not saying that is a poor choice. It all worked out fine. I just preferred the dog park meetings. |
commented answer | How long do you "stay" during a cat drop in visit? I'm not opposed to it to be clear! It sounds like a great service. I'm just curious how you arrived at that conclusion |
commented answer | How long do you "stay" during a cat drop in visit? I'm interested to hear you say that you clean because to me the cat visit should entail cleaning the litter box but do you also clean up other things? (furry furniture, cat dishes, etc) I wouldn't consider that when i walk a dog as part of my duties so why do you consider it for a cat? |
asked a question | I think one of my clients is falsely using a service dog harness? One of the dogs I walk wears a harness that indicates he is a service animal. His behaviour, however, suggests otherwise (minor dog to dog aggression like growling and when he's off leash in a park he barks and kicks dirt incessantly) I don't know how to bring it up to the clients but as the dog walker I notice this and have gotten a few uncomfortable questions from fellow dog owners about how it's strange to see such behavior in a service dog. I'm also not sure if he is a service dog and just doesn't see me as his person which means he behaves differently when I'm with him. I'm unsure of the next step to take but I don't want to continue to support false service dog markings because I have friends who need their service dogs and because of their not obvious disabilities, and the stigma that fake service dogs cause, they have troubles in their lives. |
asked a question | Do you have trouble getting clients to return after vacation? I've decided to take a three-week vacation to spend time with my grandfather who is getting older and who I know I need to spend time with like I used to. I'm committed to this and have reached out to my dog owners already letting them know of my plans. They all seem fine with it but has anyone had the experience of losing clients after that long away? I don't offer dog boarding so this is strictly dog walking clients. |
commented answer | Is there a way to maintain a lower rate for old clients? Thank you so much! This seems far easier than what I thought I might have to do (submit a modify walk request every single time. Rover's service is fast and that's great but I'm not looking to fill out that form every time) |

asked a question | Is there a way to maintain a lower rate for old clients? I am considering raising my dog walking rates to something more in line with the rovers in the area and with my own financial needs. I started low as recommended but have a few five-star reviews and I want to be able to make more money. That said I'm appreciative to the clients who are using me regularly and I don't want to raise their rates just because I'm seeking to expand my business. Is there a structured way to keep them at a separate rate? |
