When you stay in a multiple dog client's home, should you also clean the home to get a good recommendation?

I am going to a meet and greet with a new client to stay in their home with 3 dogs. I will be staying for 4 nights and 5 days. This is my first in-house sitting. In order to get a good recommendation, is house cleaning, laundry, etc. required?

Ask your client. Those services are OUTSIDE of rover and nothing covers you or the owner. As a client, I might ask my sitter to vacuum or pick up after my dogs and leave them a tip for doing so on the day I get home.

I agree with Lisa and Deb. I like to make it seem like I wasn't there. I generally change the trash, at least strip the bed, wipe the floors and bathroom area, and take care of any dishes I used. Hope it's a good stay!

No, you do not need to clean the home. You just leave it in same or slightly better condition (one example: I usually remove shoes and leave inside the door, but if I wore shoes inside, I'd run their swiffer or mop across the hard surface floor) and of course take care of the pets like they would. Since it's only 4 night, no laundry should be needed. In fact, during the meet & greet, discuss everything - ask what they need you to do and when (besides giving you details of the pets' routines, they may or may not request you to water plants, get mail, take trash to curb) and ask about any privileges of interest to you (i.e. kitchen appliances, internet, etc. and see what areas of the home you'd use (bed, bath)

Ditto what Deb said! I usually clean up after myself - dishes, rinsing out the sink/shower, etc., and I wash the sheets and remake the bed before I leave. Though, if you're leaving early in the morning and it's not feasible, work that out prior to the stay. Good luck!

Thank you, Deb and Lisa, for your replies. You both have gave me valuable advice and I greatly appreciate your help!
