How can I walk a slow older dog with my younger, active dog?

Hello! My Sheltie was in better health when we took walks. Since I rescued a little chi-mix dog, my Sheltie and I can't take easy normal walks. The little one runs around us and trips me. I have been working with the little one to walk better on a leash. Meanwhile, if I leave the little one at home while the Sheltie and I try to take a walk, the little one goes bonkers. Any advice? Thanks so much!

if your older dog is well behaved on walks, try leashing the 2 dogs together. Let the older one do the teaching, dogs can feel ur energy thru the leash, so if u r the least bit tense, or have anxiety bout the walk the dogs will sense that and it will cause them to be just as anxious.

I have no experience with this but you might try searching for some video of Brandon McMillan ("Lucky Dog" TV show) and his daisy chain technique. The dogs are coupled and the problem one learns from the other various behavioral things. I don't see why it could work teaching your chi-mix how to walk better, especially with an older, slower dog.
