Does anyone bring their child with them on pet visits and dog walks?

do you have problems finding clients who are o.k with that? Would you advise bringing her to a meet and greet, and if so would you give the client a heads up before that meet and greet? I have a 5-year-old who's not in school yet...

As a client I would be 100% against that for my dogs, but i'm sure some clients would be fine with it.

You absolutely need to let them know before they book that your child will be with you, and let them decide how to proceed before setting up the meet and greet.

My dogs don't have enough children exposure for me to be able to feel comfortable with a child being around them without me there with them.

Thank you for your answer, I can see how a client could find that situation to be uncomfortable if they don't know how a child might affect their dog. I will definitely advise any potential clients prior to the meet and greet.

I’ve taken my 8-year-old on a lot of drop in visits and also overnight stays. Like others have said, you just have to okay it with the pet owners and make sure the pets are good with children. The cats and dogs we’ve sat for love my daughter.

I have to agree with Shadi's answer - bringing children along for a pet service is a very bad idea. You nor your children are not covered by the Rover guarantee or any private insurance you may have.

Thank you for answering. That's something ill have to consider moving forward. I might have to put this venture off until my daughter starts going to school.

I have a 4 year old that just started pre-school but the first two questions I ask, "Is (Name of dog) okay with kids, and what time is pick up & drop off? lol.. Because I wouldn't want to take on a booking that may be harmful to my child or who know they may not trust kids around (name of dog) . If it's a meet and greet btw I think it's perfect to bring your kid with you that way everyone can feel each other vibe and move-on from there

I know this is an older question but I just thought I would add my experience. I do drop in visits mostly. I have a two year old and a 6 year old. They have both been on pet sits with me before. The two year old will sit in the car with a tablet while I video chat her. This is if I am only doing one drop in and the weather is nice. Also I sit in the Mountains, so most homes will have long driveways into their property. So she isn't sitting alone on some busy traffic street. There was a pet sit where I was at the Meet and Greet and realized I knew their child! He was in my daughters class the year before. They had super friendly sweet dogs and cat. When we realized the connection she said I could feel free to bring my whole family with me. So I brought both kids on one visit and just my older one on the other visits.

I think it is possible but you have to be clear and upfront with your expectations and careful with the circumstances you agree to.

I had to bring my 15 year old with me to a couple of clients once over the summer. I gave the clients notice and asked their approval, and they were fine. I told them that if they didn't approve, he's old enough to walk around the block on his own. I don't think I'd bring a small child with me. I think it could easily end up in your child being injured.
