There are a lot of reasons your dog may be eliminating inappropriately, but because serious illness or injury can be a primary cause, it's always a good idea to talk to your vet about the problem before attempting any at-home treatment

There could be different reasons. Is this a potty training issue - meaning has it always been this way? Does the dog have enough regularly scheduled walks with opportunities to eliminate (after meals and throughout the day)? If it's a new issues is your dog of older age or have any medical conditions (including possible seizures) that no longer makes it possible for the dog to anticipate needs and control output?
