Maybe. While beef is a great source of protein and healthy fats, there are some risks when your dog consumes raw beef. Raw ground beef puts your dog at risk for salmonella, a bacterial contamination. Salmonella often leads to gastrointestinal illness. Raw meat is not recommended for puppies, dogs with liver or kidney failure, or dogs with cancer.
Symptoms to Watch For
Salmonella food poisoning is a risk for dogs that eat contaminated raw ground beef. Symptoms may include:
- High fever
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargy
