DogTEC Certified Dog Jogs & Walks

Pet care experience

A California native, avid runner, and experienced DogTEC certified dog handler, Amy provides exercise primarily in the form of running to dogs residing in the San Francisco Bay Area cities and towns of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, Dublin, Pleasanton, and San Ramon. 30 or 60 minute 1:1, individualized DogTEC* certified leashed jogs (and walks) are available for dogs of widely varying ages, breeds, sizes, fitness/training levels, and temperaments. Sessions utilize positive reinforcement** dog training techniques to establish/enforce basic skills such as polite leash behavior and sitting. Rates: 30 minutes - $25 per walk, $30 per jog/run 60 minutes - $35 per walk, $40 per jog/run In addition to being DogTEC certified, Amy's dog handling experience includes over 1,900 hours participating in the East Bay SPCA’s all volunteer Jog-a-Dog Canine Exercise*** program which she founded in 2012 and continues to participate in actively as lead volunteer and runner. The purpose of that program is to provide exercise, enrichment, and socialization to shelter dogs while they await adoption. Since it launched, hundreds of dogs have run hundreds of miles and have gone on to be adopted into loving, forever homes. The program averages 600 runs annually and is credited with bringing the organization’s adoptability levels to a new high. *”To be certified, candidates must: pass a hands-on practical exam, pass a comprehensive written exam, be Pet Tech dog first-aid certified, pledge to use only humane training approaches, and pledge to adhere to ethical business practices.”—DogTEC **”Positive reinforcement training uses praise and/or treats to reward your dog for doing something you want him to do. Because the reward makes him more likely to repeat the behavior, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog's behavior.”—The Humane Society of the United States ***To participate in the Jog-a-Dog Canine Exercise program, all volunteer runners must successfully complete training curriculum and consistently adhere to detailed protocol.

Amy was fabulous. met all three dogs at the household and they were all comfortable with her immediately but only one was going for a walk. She listened to my directions carefully and understood what kind of walk i wanted has we have just found out that my 11 year-old has arthritis in her wrists. She was on time and returned on time and gave me a glowing complete report. She has much experience with all types of dogs and i would use her again with no resevations. Highly recommend!

Amy has had a upbeat "can-do" attitude since day 1. Her ability to handle energetic adolescent dogs with savvy tricks and treats make watching her work enjoyable. She has been punctual and professional and all the dogs come back from their jogs with a huge smile and calmer disposition. Highly recommend her services if your dog needs some energy expulsion.

I have volunteered with Amy, at the SPCA, for over a year. I have never met someone as committed, as attentive and dedicated to the dogs in her care. She is always professional, extremely friendly, helpful and so kind. I feel lucky to have been able to volunteer with her and highly recommend her as a dog caregiver.

Amy has been volunteering with dogs at the East Bay SPCA for several years. I met Amy through a program at the SPCA she assisted in creating called Jog-a-Dog. This is where volunteers would come and help take dogs on walks and runs. Everytime I volunteered with Amy she has nothing but the best attitude. Amy works well with all dogs because she's able to adapt to any type of dogs demeanor.
