“Karen did a wonderful job taking care of my large dog during a long weekend. When I did an initial meet and greet with Karen and my energetic and somewhat excitable dog, her calm demeanor and knowledge of dogs put me at ease. During my pup's stay with Karen, he enjoyed a long hike through a beautiful park and rolled around in the grass in her enclosed backyard. Karen even got my dog used to a new, gentler harness. From what I could tell, my dog had a great time with Karen!”

She took amazing car of my dog and seemed super comfortable with the notes I left her—my dog is pretty easy going but can be a bit needy at times. I got a handful of updates throughout the weekend but I was also able to turn my attentions away and feel really comfortable leaving her in charge of the little guy. About: I’m a Fear Free Certified Professional, currently studying animal behavior. I’ve been running my own home based doggy daycare and boarding house for four years. My care is crate-free (unless that's what your pup's preferred at-home routine is,) with regular group outings to trails and the beach. I live in a two level home where the entire downstairs and fenced backyard are just for the dogs! It’s colorfully set up as the coolest doggie social club, but the pups are welcome throughout both levels of the home. They are never forcibly isolated and almost always prefer to be close to wherever I am. I keep my client list small and personal—almost all of my dogs have been with me for years. I don’t aim to pack the house; I aim to give the best experience possible for every dog and human involved. Even when clients start as one-offs, they usually stick around—because I strive to be a resource for dogs and their families. That’s why I call this place a home away from home. Canine care is my daily life. The dogs are with me throughout the day—whether we’re in the yard, around the house, or out on a trail. I structure my routine around their needs, with group outings, downtime, and a consistent rhythm. If my personal life calls me away, I have an amazing assistant Alaina who steps in. She also co-runs the daycare! I focus on keeping things consistent, calm, fun, and full of bonding—play, rest, outdoor time, and enrichment are all part of the daily rhythm. Outside of daycare hours, the space functions as our home too, so dogs experience a relaxed, real-life environment, not a facility. I send updates, pictures, and videos throughout the day.

“Vanessa was so kind and careful with our pup Gumbo! We were extra nervous because we had to leave him with her for two weeks while he recovered from an injury. Following our vet’s instructions, she gave him his meds, restricted his activity, carried him up and down the stairs, and provided so much loving care. And she sent us lots of updates! Her pup Robin is so sweet too. We’re looking forward to Gumbo’s next stay with them.”
