I provide cat care for cat only households. I would like to know if your cat is an escape artist, uncomfortable with certain things (noise, hats, and etc.), is on a special diet/medication, has favorite toys, loves brushing/pets or simply prefers to be left alone. It's also helpful to know how the cat behaved with a previous sitter. I usually provide a meet and greet session at your home prior to booking so that I can better understand the care, collect keys, and we can all feel comfortable while you are away.

When I cat sit, I start by letting the cat come to me and sniff if they are brave or start by cleaning the litter boxes and other care tasks so that they can get used to being around me by watching from wherever they are comfortable. If the cat allows me to play with them, then depending on the energy level, I typically play with fishing-rod type toys for jumping and toss balls for running. Oftentimes, moving their favorite toy under a blanket is a great ice breaker since I can do that with minimal movement. If the cat is more mellow and prefers to snuggle, I would pet or brush them as they like.
