Hi! My name is Whitney, I'm 30 years old and have been a pet owner almost my entire life and decided to carry my love for animals into my career path as a veterinary assistant. The bulk of my animal caregiving experience has been with dogs and cats--however I do have some knowledge of pets outside of this (rabbits, pocket pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs, etc., birds, a few reptiles here and there.) I've been in the veterinary field for about two years and fully intend on continuing within the field, I've always had a very heartfelt and profound love and passion for animals and their care ever since I was a kid so it only seemed natural to pursue a career doing something that would fulfill my ardor for pet care :) I've worked professionally as a dog-walker and pet sitter in the past for a multitude of different breeds (small, large, young, old, shy, fiesty...you name it!)--as long as there's nothing in the way of extreme aggression, I can handle pretty much anything that's thrown my way! I have only been a dog-owner so I carry the most knowledge with their type, but love cats just as much and have a background caring for them as my two older sisters have been all-their-life owners of kitties :) Right now, I have a 3 year old black Pug named Olive--have pretty much only had pugs as my furbabies since I fell in love with the breed with my first, Gertie, when I was 12 years old. But I love any and all types, ages, shapes, sizes, temperaments---I'm the type you'll see strolling along asking if I can pet everyone's doggies that passes by :D If there are any health issues, special needs, medications that need to be given, special dietary needs/restrictions....I am more than happy to accommodate at no extra charge and have more than likely had an abundance of practice doing/giving in the past--if not, I am quick and eager to learn and have complete confidence in my abilities! :) I am first aid/CPR certified, have a pretty vast knowledge of any/all pet related health info with my vet assisting experience under my belt, and as far as personal attributes, I'm dependable, flexible, easy-going, VERY spirited and eager to give of myself to all the animals humanly possible.
