Great with special needs dogs!

Pet care experience

I love being able to come home after a rough day to have all my pups put a smile on my face the second I walk in the door! All they want is to be loved and snuggled, and I love being able to watch my dogs running around with smiles on their faces. I became a sitter because I love making sure that pups are as happy as they can be, and in order to give back to the community by giving owners peace of mind while they are away. I work a FT job M-F 9-5:30. This leaves time in the am, pm, and anytime on the weekends for cuddling with your furry family member. I have owned dogs my entire life. I have adopted a couple greyhounds and gave them a forever home. I got to watch their expressions as they learned about the world, it was so awesome! Right now I have two labs and a greyhound. About fifteen years ago, I lived at a house on a kennel property, where I cared for the dogs, fed them, cleaned kennels, assisted the owner/trainer, ran the feed store, and helped in the grooming area for about a year. But now I just look after my three pooches! My 7 year old dog has Addison's disease that is completely under control. I give her daily medications and monthly injections, so I do have experience administering medication. I have my 11 year old senior lab, and a greyhound that is 3 years old. I have previously watched my neighbors dogs (2 blind dogs, and one had diabetes), so I have had experience with disabled dogs as well. When taking on a new client, I always prefer to schedule a meet-and-greet first. During the meet-and-greet, I like to start off by finding out if there is anything your pup loves in particular so I could play with a certain toy, brush him, give him a bone, or whatever it took to make him feel at home and trust me. I love big lovey dogs, no breed preference but they do have to be friendly. No aggressive dogs. I would want to know if they have any history of being aggressive or biting. I do have a bunch of other questions that I like to ask, so we’ll be sure to get into that during the meet. I will respond quickly to any inquiries, keep in touch, send pics, and be respectful of all requests, keep my calendar up to date, and send reminder cards. For your pup, I will be sure to play a lot, exercise, snuggle, keep them safe, and make sure they’re happy! I could definitely take them on car rides and walking around drinking coffee by the beach, or sitting at an outside coffee shop. I also LOVE just sitting by my pool relaxing and letting my dogs play.

My Rutledge absolutely loves Wendy! She does a great job caring for my senior pup. She has been and always will be welcome to our home.

I was very nervous to use Rover at first. After years of having a trusted friend watch our dogs when we would travel we moved to a new city and were at a loss. Thanks to Rover we found Wendy (and her son Gage). Wendy is exactly what we were looking for. A wonderful person with a great love and respect for us and our boys. She and Gage obviously love their own pets and my boys light up every time they see this Rover family. Thank you Wendy!

Wendy is a true pet lover. I have known Wendy for over 20 years and would trust her with my beloved furry family members with no hesitation.

If you are looking for someone who truly will treat your pet as her very own, then you should look no further. I can honestly say that she has the biggest heart for animals combined with good common sense. We, critter loving, folks know how hard it can be to leave our sweet babies behind sometimes and knowing that you're leaving them with someone so caring and loving really relieves that stress. You will see for yourself, when you meet Wendy, that her heart is just so big and and she is a genuinely good person.

Information Wendy K. would like to know about your pet

What are your dogs eating and bathroom habits? Are they skittish around new people? Are they friendly to strangers? Do they have a history of biting? Are their any special treats or activities they enjoy? Are they escape artists? I would like to know as much as I can about your furry friend before I watch them. I am not breed specific, however I do not want to handle dogs that are aggressive towards people.

A typical day

I typically like to follow the schedule that your pup is used to at home, but I do have some things that I like to take care of with my pups. If I am staying with your pup we would wake up around 6am eat breakfast and go to the bathroom. We would hang out and go out to play and potty before I left for work around 8:30 am. I return from work around 6:00 pm. We then potty, eat, play and go for walks before hanging out and watching tv, and then get ready for a nights sleep, and off to bed we would go. I have my 18 year old son who could come assist mid-day if needed while I am at work.
