Dog Lover with Young Kids
Pet care experience
I started my pet-care career with just one dog, Chili, a big Siberian Husky. I walked him everyday after school when I was in high school for my neighbor for just $35/week. What a bargain, right? I was saving for my own laptop. I was tasked with making sure he did his business on our walk (hah!) and had fresh water since "Mom" didn't return until late at night. Chili was very energetic and SO smart, he needed a long walk and a lot of play time. Later, the family I nannied for after college had a 10-year old Wheaten named Rascal. He hated going to the groomers, but -- what a love ball the rest of the time! Usually, I'd do my homework with Chili because I didn't want him to be alone all night and often snuck a visit in before school, just because he was an energetic type and I hated him to be crated all day. And Rascal, well, he followed me everywhere. Although I didn't have a pet of my own growing up, Chili and Rascal will remain in my heart always. They were such wonderful dogs. My girls are also complete dog LOVERS and our large, fenced backyard is a dream for the pups who stay with us. As a family, we love to be outside throwing a ball and running around with the dogs we host, so know that your pet will be part of the family here. Our house is small, (it’s a Cape) but baby proofed, so it's very safe for our furry friends. I can keep an eye on everything at all times, even from the next room. We prefer to only take one pet at a time — very rarely, and only with an owner's OK do we agree to two dogs. Until the girls are a little older, we're going to delay getting a dog of our own so you can feel confident that while your pet is with us — whether for boarding or daycare or just a walk, h/she'll be treated like family. I really think Dean Koontz put it best: "Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one is a life diminished." I'm so lucky to have so many wonderful dogs in my life — they truly do make life better. I only wish I had realized how much better, sooner. I absolutely love this work because it's not work for me.

Wendy is awesome!
My dog was very well cared for. She enjoyed playing ball, her walks, and lots of love - She came home happy and tired. I appreciated the communication from Wendy, updates and pics. Wendy really knows what she’s doing and I felt very comfortable knowing my dog was in such good hands. I highly recommend Wendy!

Temperament? Good with kids? High energy? Is his preferred spot in a lap at all times? Any injuries or recent health ailments? Anything that she doesn't like -- or that might make him or her wary of me. I know some rescues need extra love. One of the most important questions I have for you is: what you want me to reinforce as far as behavior? Do you treat after potty time? Is lounging on the couch and jumping up on furniture OK? I want to help reinforce your rules at our home too. And if you treat with the occasional slice of cheese or green bean, let me know that too. :-) Will he charge into the street after squirrels? I can handle anything — I just want to keep your pet safe in my care and give the appropriate amount of exercise, fun, cuddles, and lounge time.
A typical day
There are a lot of parks nearby. I LOVE to walk. (Connect with me on FitBit!) And if your dog is a runner, I love nothing more than a buddy to romp around with. My yard is fenced for energy burning, but for more guided walks, I live in a residential neighborhood with excellent sidewalks. Let me know if your dog is comfortable on trail walks too — I know some excellent forested trail walks in the area.
