Special Requirements

Frodo has IVDD (a degenerative spine disease) and is therefore susceptible to slipping discs in his back, which can cause intense pain and paralysis. He has only had one episode so far, but to try to prevent further episodes he cannot jump on furniture, go up or down stairs, be around large dogs, or jump up on people. He has to be walked in a harness instead of just a collar, is kept in an exercise pen when he isn't being watched, and can't play too rough. He can only be picked up/carried in a certain way. Despite this, however, he acts like a normal dog. He is very playful and loves fetch, loves to walk, and is probably the friendliest dog you have ever met- even to strangers!

About Samwise

Samwise is very sweet, but can take a little time to warm up to new people. If a new person comes over when we're not home, he sometimes barks and runs away from them at first. It's okay to take it slow with him. Once he does warm up to you, though, he is one of the cuddliest dogs that you've ever met. He loves to snuggle and get belly rubs :)
