Love one family at a time!

Pet care experience

We love your furry loved ones one family at a time! We also do cat drop ins. Availability shows on computers not the app! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Both my husband and I grew up with dogs and love them like they are our own family members. Our Rover experience started in January 2017. Our dog passed away 5 years ago and when our daughter was away at college, we were empty nesters looking for furry companions to fill up our empty house. We felt the need to help others out as we know it is hard to leave your loved one with just anybody. Our dog had anger issues with kids so we had to kennel him and had always wished for a kind family to love him when we were away. DOG BOARDING/DOGGIE DAYCARE: We would love to care for your dogs in our home. We have a big back yard not fenced but we also live by walking trails to go for walks if your dog likes that. We have two 40 foot cable hooked up in the backyard so the dogs can run freely to play catch with us. We never leave them unattended outside. I (Vickie) also come home at lunchtime 11:30, as I work only 5-10 min from home and walk the dogs around the block. Scott currently works from home full time during. Our daughter, Sydney moved to LA but occasionally comes home for holidays. We give loving personal attention to your loved ones in a setting with only your dog(s). We only accept one family at a time. We will care and love your dog(s) as one of our own sending pictures (1 photo in our daughter’s photography studio in the basement) and updates everyday 1-2 times daily or more if something is cute and I want you to see. We have watched our neighbors and families dogs and love to spoil them. We don't believe in hitting and we believe in rewards for being good. We have a two story house with lots of room to move freely. We have an unfinished basement so we have it gated unless we are down there then we let the dogs down with us. If they are elderly, we will watch them closely and can put a gate at the bottom of the steps going upstairs as well if needed. We have toys to share and love to play. We have several different size dog beds for them to use. We now have two new beds: Barker Jr dog bed for dogs under 50 lbs and Big Barker for dogs over 50 lbs to assure their joints a safe bed to lay on. We feel dogs are so loving and need companions when their owners are away to give them special attention until their family returns. We believe in keeping the owners requests in kenneling during the day and/or night. We are open to them having free run of the house and sleeping in bed with us if they are used to that. We will follow your instructions. We love walks on the trails. If an owner prefers the dog park, we are willing to do that too. Dog parks aren't for everyone and we would never bring a dog without the owners request. We do need to mention that we do accept 3 dogs from the same family. We do not watch more than one families dog at the same time unless they know each other from families. The only exception we are finding is drop off and pick up times may overlap with another families dog. We will not accept an overlap if it is more than 2-3 hours. We will separate the dogs and keep them occupied as best we can during these overlapping times. Please feel free to ask us more questions at the Meet and Greet session. Diapers: we do reserve the right to use doggie diapers if your dog is a marker or has potty accidents. This will be discussed at Meet & Greets. DROP IN VISITS: available for current clients only 30 min visit. MEET AND GREETS: (during COVID pandemic, we are doing Meet & Greets on our front lawn until further notice unless winter months then require masks be worn in our house for a shortened visit. We also can do Zoom meetings if you want to see the inside) Dog Meet and Greets are important for owners and dog to get a feel for us and our house as this lessens their anxiety at the initial first day of their sta. During a M&G in our home for dogs, we ask that you try to have your dogs go potty in the yard upon arriving. Most dogs even if they go at home still need to go as it is a new situation for them and they have anxiety. This way they will be more comfortable and relaxed. We appreciate it thank you! Rover calendars show on computers the full range of availability but not on your cell phones. Book now for holidays, summertime and spring breaks! Phone apps don't show the full availability so always ask us if you have any dates that are questioning availability. Create your request under our profile for a $20 discount on your first booking through Rover. Promo code given at Meet & Greet session. We do open up our calendars for inhome dogsitting, dog visits, drop ins and/or dog walking upon request if it does not show on calendar. We look forward to meeting your furry loved one(s)! Please feel free to contact us with any questions about availability or pricing. We hope you consider us to love and care for your furry family member(s). Thank you ~Vickie & Scott https://www.rover.com/sit/vsenstad Scott and I work fulltime. Scott works 8-5ish and I have a fluctuating schedule some days working from home and some in office. I do come home during lunchtime to play and/or walk the dogs. Scott works full time from home currently. We have gates up on the main level, cables in the back yard with a long stake in the backyard. We do not let them be alone outside when in play or to go potty. We always use a harness for all dogs and we have several sizes to go for walks. We use our own leashes that are not retractable for safety. We also put lighted collars on for any nighttime walks. As of 2.27.22, Scott and I are part-time at home and part-time working in the office. Vickie does come home at lunchtime to take the dog out for a short walk (depending on the weather) or at least for potty break and playtime. Scott and I watch the dogs very closely. We have gates to block off upstairs and downstairs unless they are capable of using the stairs. We always keep the basement closed off as it is unfinished unless we are down there watching the dogs. Lots of different size kennels for the dogs that require kenneling. We have a permanent gate that blocks off the kitchen/livingroom area from the rest of the house for when we leave the house. Our deck out back has a permanent gate so the dogs cannot go down the stairs. We are ALWAYS outside with your pet at ALL times. We have lots of toys, beds and blankets. The backyard has cables secured in the ground so the dogs can run and play and play fetch with us.

This is the 2nd time Sammy stayed with Vickie & Scott and he immediately made himself at home with the fun toys and cozy beds!. They go above and beyond with daily photos and updates that are always priceless - not to mention the added sweet “glamour shot”!! We’re beyond happy with their care for Sammy and hoping he can visit their home again! Thank you so much again Vickie & Scott.

Information Vickie & Scott E. would like to know about your pet

We love all dogs. We do not have any breed preferences. We would want to note if they have anger issues, biting, allergies or wetting troubles, typical day in the life of your dog including feeding times, sleep arrangements, gastrointestinal issues, kenneling during the day and/or night and if medication is needed. Are they on flea & ticks medicine due to the trails are populated with deer. Keeping them comfortable, busy and on a similar schedule so they feel loved is what we care about.

A typical day

We love to play with dogs in and outside playing catch or any toys you may have as we will share the toys we have too. Since we don't have a fenced in yard, we do have posts in the ground with 40 ft of vinyl coated steel cables for them to run freely or play fetch in our back yard. We are with them at all times when outside. We have wonderful walking trails by our house that are great for taking your dog on walks. Dog parks are okay but we will only go at the owners request otherwise we do not make that part of the stay as we understand they aren't for all dogs.
