Pet care experience
My 10+ years of sitting experience covers a broad assortment of animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, horses, and assorted farm animals. I have kept my charges happy and healthy in every circumstance and have experience in climates from harsh Maine winters to sweltering Virginia summers. As a volunteer foster for a humane society I gained experience caring for senior animals, blind/deaf dogs, dogs with behavioral issues, as well as those who had never been trained.

Veronica was excellent! We went away for a week and wanted someone to stay with our senior kitty while we were gone. She took great care of him, sent us lots of updates, and he was so calm and happy when we got back. Will definitely be booking again!

I understand that environment can be the difference between a relaxed animal and a stressed out little ball of anxiety and I am very keen to understand as much about each specific pet’s habits and routines as I can from the very beginning of each job. I always respect the customer and their pet above my own personal judgment when it comes to how they specify their care. While in extenuating circumstances I know I can confidently rely on my knowledge and experience, I also know that it is the customer and their pet that have the most real understanding.

I like to have as much information about your pet as possible so that I can be best prepared to give them the specific care and love that they deserve. Any little unique quirks or habits that I could get a heads up on will help me make sure that your pet is completely stress free in all our interactions. Let me know what boundaries you have established in your household for your pet so that I can keep continuity for them while you’re away.
A typical day
I love love love dogs, so I will be keen to spend as much time walking, playing with or training them as is feasible during a stay. Hikes/trails are some of my favorite activities with dogs so let me know if there’s any good spots in your area! I find trail walks to be an excellent energy releasing activity full of great stimulation for most dogs. I like to mix training or at least positive reinforcement of good manners in with as many play/exercise activities as I can. Unless otherwise specified by you the pet parent, walks will reinforce leash training, and playtime will not just be a feral free-for-all of hyperactivity.

Availability
I currently have a fully available schedule as I have been caring for my grandparents full time after their recent move. I am working towards them being back to full independence and being gone for a few days at a time to dog sit is an ideal way for me to do that! I have my own vehicle and am willing to travel.
