Pet care experience
I love animals of all kinds and have been helping family, friends and neighbors with theirs for over 15 years! My responsiblities included but were not limited to walking, feeding and bathing. I also assisted in crate training two dogs. I am very active and enjoy being outdoors. I'm currently working part-time and available after 1 pm on the weekdays, and all day on the weekends for walking, play dates and pet sitting. I am a kindergarten teacher in a neighboring town and will be on summer break as of June 2nd! I have a small fenced in area and live in a dog friendly apartment. I don't have any pets of my own. This means that your pets have my undivided attention, but that there are dog friends nearby for play dates!

Vanessa is the best!
Vanessa was wonderful with our senior shih tzu Gizmo! She was very communicative with me while away and attentive to his senior needs. With all the updates, videos and pictures she sent over, I could tell Gizmo was immediately comfortable with her.
We are so thankful for Vanessa!! She was so caring and loving to our doggo. To ensure we were comfortable, Vanessa first had a meet and greet with our dog which we really appreciated. We had the opportunity to see her place and our dog had the chance to get comfortable with Vanessa. Vanessa was a great fit because she gave him the same love and care we give and he is used to, whether that meant allowing him to sleep on the bed or sit on the sofa with her. She was also mindful of his feeding and bathroom schedule, which made the transition seamlesss. Finally (and something that we really really appreciated) — Vanessa would send us regular updates (1-2 per day) with pictures so we knew our dog was doing well and in good hands! We know for a fact that our dog loved her and it’s pretty evident (because we could tell he missed her when we were back home!) All of this is to say that we are super thankful for Vanessa and we look forward to hiring her again soon!

I think its important to get a feel for the specific dogs likes and dislikes- why they fear (fireworks, thunder, water) and also the familiar words and lingo used when interacting with the dogs!
A typical day
I'm very active myself, so I love a long walk. I live near a very large park (walking distance) and there is a great dog park in my town as well. I'm also a big snuggler and love to cuddle up on the couch for a movie!

Availability
During the school year, I work from 8:30 am until about 1:30. Typically I will walk your pet last thing prior to leaving and first thing when I get home. However during holidays, weekends and during the summer months I am completely available and have a very flexible schedule.
