Pet care experience
I am (unsurprisingly) a dog lover! And so is my live-in partner, Emily, who helps or takes the lead on all Rover visits and stays. As for me, I've grown up with dogs since age 7 - first, a hyperactive, and lovable Dalmatian named Perdita, followed by two Australian Shepards named Cleo and Libby (short for Liberty, since she was a rescue found on the 4th of July). Up until I left for college, I provided care for all, first after school (feeding and walking) and, as I got older, over weeks and weekends when my parents would go away. When I moved home after college, my Cleo passed away, and we adopted another rescue dog and Aussie, Mac, to give Libby some company. Emily grew up with Dachshunds, or as she affectionately calls them, "weenies." As mentioned, she will be with me for drop-ins, walks, and overnights, so if you choose us, you're getting two caring sitters for the price of one. Throughout the years, I not only provided the daily and overnight care specified above, but also was primarily responsible for taking Cleo, Mac, and Libby to dog training classes, Canine Good Citizen classes, attention classes, and agility classes, and making sure that both dogs did their training "homework" each week. I even trained Cleo to ring wind chimes hanging from the garage door knob with her nose to indicate wanting to go potty! I am currently an Associate Professor at USC and have some flexibility regarding my work schedule. Emily is a freelance writer/editor working from home so has full flexibility. In addition, we are particularly well-suited to those with active dogs, as we love to go on jogs, hikes, and long walks. I am also used to taking care of two dogs at a time, so doggie families are welcome!
Reviews
Vanessa and Emily were amazing! They worked with us on a very last minute trip and went above and beyond to take care of our boys. It was obvious they truly love animals as they spent extra time here with our dogs and sent updates and pictures. We won’t hesitate to book again!
Vanessa was the PERFECT dog (and apartment) sitter! Oliver was super happy and well taken care of upon my return after a long weekend. Vanessa sent me updates a couple times a day accompanied by photos. She even asked how often I'd prefer hearing from her prior to the stay, which I thought was a great and thoughtful question. Oliver loves to exercise but has a hard time with dog parks so Vanessa was a great match, being a runner herself. She took him on runs with her which I'm certain he loved. She was also the perfect house guest - the place was in the exact same shape I left it! I can't wait to hire her again and cannot recommend her enough.
Vanessa has watched our dog, Brody, several times now. He's a big doodle with tons of energy who requires a lot of attention and exercise and everytime Vanessa watches him, we come home to a tired worn out dog. Vanessa has quickly become our number one choice any time we need a dog sitter and I cannot recommend her to everyone!

Information Vanessa K. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know if your dog has any special needs that need to be fulfilled during their stay. In addition, it is important for me to know both your dog's favorite activities and treats, as well as any points of sensitivity or dislikes. For example, Mac does not like having his bone taken away and therefore he needs to be distracted to do so. I would also like to know how much activity your dog likes so I can plan walks and/or runs accordingly. I do not have any breed preferences and love all dogs!
A typical day
Your dog can also expect exercise and lots of love - back rubs, belly rubs, hugs, being brushed, you name it - as well as plenty of treats (per your approval, of course). Since I work from home, your dog will not be left alone. I also know from having parents who are dog lovers, how important it is to them that I give them updates when I sit for Mac and Libby. For this reason, I'm happy to text pictures and updates so that you can feel secure knowing your dog or dogs is/are being well-cared for.
