Animal-loving Grad Student

Pet care experience

I have a ton of love and endless patience for all animals. I got my first dog when I was 10, and he was my best friend for the next 14 years! During that time, I faithfully gave him obedience lessons, and took him on many adventures. I also grew up looking after the pets of neighbors, the family accountant, and extended family with enthusiasm because I loved getting all the cuddles! As a Graduate student now, working in pet care has given me the flexibility I need to focus on my studies, and afford my books. I am a full-time student, but if we can make something work, I would be honored to become your fur-baby's good friend!

Valorie was amazing ! We had her dog sit our dog Vinny on our wedding day at the venue and she was so good with him. Vinny is pretty attached to us but I felt so at ease running around doing various bride things and knowing Vinny was safe with Valorie. Would absolutely book her again.

Safety, trust & environment

When visiting your home, I do the best I can to keep to the routine your pet is accustomed to. For example, on walks, I am careful of each dog's personal fitness and activity level. Some love to run (I do, too!) But others prefer a more leisurely pace and want to sniff the flowers, which I am also more than okay with because this can also be very stimulating and rewarding for them! When I’m house-sitting, I will let them onto the bed to sleep with me if that is what they prefer and are used to!

Information Valorie V. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your pet is prone to reactivity, anxiety, and how they handle new people/situations. I want to be sure I am able to approach them in a way that causes the least amount of stress as possible. Also, any other special needs (limit on treats, allergies) or any other quirky and unique behaviors (needs a specific song to play before bedtime? Doesn’t like the dark?) to look out for so that I can be aware and accommodating. :)

A typical day

I believe mental and physical stimulation is very important. With your permission, we will enjoy exploring nearby parks, playing fun games (like chase, or fetch) and tons of cuddles!

I am currently in a full-time practicum as part of my Grad program, so I am only available in the late afternoon/early evening during the week. I am happy to stop by for visits, walks, playtime and to feed dinner M-F. On weekends, my availability is much more open for multiple, lengthier visits throughout the day.
