Loving Care When You're Not There

Pet care experience

Since I was a child, I have been surrounded by animals - learning early on through 4H how to properly care for beloved pets and farm animals. Through the years, our family has owned, fostered and cared for a wide variety of pets including fish, bunnies, birds, horses, cats and dogs. Married to a military man, self-employed and wanting to find ways to help animals in need, I took courses specific to animal behavior as well as classes for fostering special needs animals. I've been an activist, volunteer and fundraiser for the SPCA, Humane Society and several local animal rescue organizations in every town we've lived. In Hawaii, my husband and I fostered more than a dozen animals - all with special needs. In St. Croix, I volunteered with and donated to Paws from Paradise to transport dogs and puppies to the mainland to rescues and adoptees. My experience with animals is vast but my love for them is limitless, and we truly believe pets are members of the family! Their lives enrich our own in countless ways, and I am passionate about the well-being of all pets. I am not a hobby sitter - this is my career, and I take great pride in the quality of care I offer my clients. I am blessed with a wonderful list of existing customers to who I perform regular sitter services. There is no better reward than endless licks, snuggles and tail wags to brighten up our days. And, I promise to provide fur babies with the very best of care - becoming the next best thing to their 'biological' mommies & daddies. I will love your pets like my own and ensure their health, comfort, security and happiness are at the forefront of our time together. So.... If your pup needs a play date or specialty care - try out doggie daycare. If your pup needs a jaunt around the block - book a 'dog walk' with me. If your pup needs a potty break, cuddles, exercise, feeding & playtime - book a drop-in visit where multiple needs can be meet on one trip. If you are traveling for no more than 2 nights - I offer house-sitting in your home. If you are traveling for 3 or more nights consecutively, then your pup(s) deserve a vacation too - so, book 'overnight boarding' in my home, where you pup(s) will be center of attention! Regardless of the service, I am happy to help and look forward to your message!

5 stars isn’t enough for Valerie. She took care of our Maddie girl as if we were home. We gave Valerie all of Maddie’s care instructions and she did everything to a T. She sent us pics/videos and notes about her time with Maddie and we loved getting these updates. When we got home Maddie was mellow yellow and chill. Happy, tuckered pup = happy mommies ☺️ We really can’t say enough good things about Valerie. She is now are go to pup sitter ??????

I believe this is our 3rd review and we still can’t say enough. Valerie has been such a vital part of our work-life, she’s taken such wonderful care of our fur kids and our home during her drop-in visits that we hope she’ll continue to be available to help for as long as possible. Valerie has been that right person for our pups and we look forward to booking with her again!!

Information Valerie S. would like to know about your pet

All first timers require a Meet & Greet, if possible. This gives your fur babies a chance to get to know me better and learn their schedule, personality, character and mannerisms. This also helps form a foundation for a loving bond to grow between us. It provides an opportunity for your pet to feel a higher level of comfort when I am with them and you aren't. During a Boarder Meet & Greet, your pup will be slowly introduced to our pack of 3 - one by one. Allow at least one hour for this process. You may stay with your pet the entire time or leave after an initial meeting with me and a tour of my home (first 15 minutes). There is no charge for a Meet & Greet prior to a new booking, but the booking MUST be reserved. If a booking is cancelled because we are not a good fit, you will receive a full refund of your reservation fee without penalty. Photos, videos, texts and updates will be provided to puppy parents who choose not stay the entire Meet & Greet process. Most pets in a new environment are much less apprehensive, nervous or aggressive when the owner is not present. However, all parents are invited/encouraged to stay. Important to Note -in my home or yours: -All pets must be UTD on vaccinations (record required) and on flea/tick/heart worm prevention. -Dogs over 40lbs have an additional $5 surcharge added for boarding/house sitting/daycare/drop-ins. -Medications and supplements must be clearly labeled and will only be given as prescribed on the label. -Litter boxes are cleaned/refreshed on every visit. -Dogs must have properly fitted collars, harnesses and leashes upon arrival and should have tags/ID attached. -Fish care is complimentary when booking house sitting or drop-in visits; however, birds, bunnies, turtles, hamsters/gerbils, etc. must be discussed and will incur a charge. -No 'exotic' animal care or reptile care is offered.

A typical day

Whether it's barks in the park, games of fetch and tug, or belly rubs and relaxing music, your pup is guaranteed to have a good time.
