Fenced yard & home full-time

Pet care experience

I’ve owned and cared for a variety of dogs - all ages, breeds and sizes - for over 17 years and have a special interest in senior dogs who may need extra medical care and attention. My home is ideal for dogs that like to run around and play in a fenced backyard and let themselves out to potty through a doggy door. There are no stairs in my house, so it's great for senior dogs who may have trouble getting around. For the less active pups, I’ve got dog beds and a couch that they’re welcome to nap on throughout the day. I’ve tried to make my home as dog friendly as possible so your pup feels comfortable while you’re away. I work from home, so I’m home almost all of the time. I take several breaks throughout the workday for walks and playtime. My day just doesn’t feel complete without sharing it with a dog! I have a senior sheltie, Lulu, along with a rescue lab mix puppy, Leela, who loves to play and will keep your dog active. Some older dogs may not like her puppy antics, so a meet and greet before you book is important. All dogs, no matter the size or temperament, will be treated with care, respect, love and patience. Dogs are my teachers and give me the opportunity to practice genorsity and kindness at every turn. Every dog that’s crossed my path has helped me see the world differently and grow. I hope to be able to share my heart and home with your best friend and give you a sense of peace while you're away. “Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?” - Mary Oliver

Would definitely recommend Valerie. She was wonderful with my flat coat retriever. I think Diego was sad leaving her place and her playmate. Will use her again. Valerie has the sweetest little puppy that kept Diego entertained.

When pets become more like your children, you want to know that their in good hands. Valerie kept us updated on Wade’s stay the whole time we where gone, and she even made sure to send us some pictures! It was very comforting to know she was taking care of our sweet boy like her own. I would definitely use her again, and recommend her.

Information Valerie R. would like to know about your pet

What is your dog's daily routine? What are some of your dog's favorite activities? Does your dog require any medication? How does your dog behave in a new environment - does it get anxious, scared, have accidents?

A typical day

I’ll take your dog go for walks around the neighborhood. I usually do a 15-20 minute walk two to three times a day. If the weather permits, we’ll run around and play in the fenced backyard. Most nights we’ll hang out on the couch in the living room, play with toys, chew on rawhides and take naps.
