Pet care experience
I have owned and worked with many different breeds of dogs. I have great insight into different breeds behaviors. I am well versed working with animals who have special needs i.e. separation anxiety, abuse to name a few. Although, I have my own dog, Molly, there's no impartiality going on in this house. What's fair is fair. I also require a meet and greet on neutral territory prior to any board or day care service. My motto is better safe than sorry, I believe you when you say your dog is not food aggressive but was your dog smelling what my dog has for dinner? I always the dogs in my home separately best buds or not. If I need to run to the store quick, I crate all the dogs in this home including my own and if your dog isn't crate trained at least mine is. I don't want to come home to find out they got into a scuffle over a toy or bone or something else. I'm able to administer medications if needed. My background working with animals, consists of being a volunteer dog walker at an animal shelter, I then went on to work for a franchised dog walking company for about a year, before joining Rover. I then branched out on my own after growing my clientele and continue to work with Rover. I've been boarding and walking dogs since 2005. I can juggle man tasks at once and have lived with three crazy dogs of my own at the same time, which enabled me a lot of experience in handling tricky situations. I own a 4 year old Old English Sheepdog, Molly, who's very friendly, however, I require a meet and greet with my dog and yours, on neutral territory prior to any stay or daycare situation. Dogs act very different in their home environment than in a neutral space. I take small dogs overnight into my home but will watch more than one dog/pet(s) at your home or larger dogs. I have impeccable references inside and outside of Rover. My job is to make things as easy and comfortable for your pets and you and to feel comfortable and at ease to enjoy your vacation and let them have one too. I cater towards the lower Westchester/Scarsdale area but will travel. My place is puppy proofed, which I learned from owning my own dogs. Garbage pales are tucked away into cabinets, etc. When taking new dogs into my home or visa versa. I like to know your dogs quirks and fears so I can be prepared ahead of the situation should one arise. I'm always scanning 100 feet ahead on walks. No worries and nothing but a doggy fabulous time here!
Reviews
Valerie is great with our dog! We use her as our regular walker and she is very dependable.
Valerie babysat my dog during for three days -- and she made my beloved companion feel right at home! I received regular photos and updates. She snuggled with my dog -- and made her feel loved, cared for -- and I felt peace of mind knowing that my best four-legged friend was safe and happy.
My dog had a great time with Valerie
We have used Valerie to watch Rosie several times, including a stay at our own home. She took great care of her, and we would highly recommend Valerie!

My first thing I do is have you leave a schedule of your dogs feeding times and walk times. I try to keep them on the same schedule you have them on. Again, I don't want to break any routine you may have in place. I ask for emergency contact, vet info, special food needs all to make sure everything is as it should be.

Information Valerie E. would like to know about your pet
I want to know their quirks, do they not like vacuums, do they chase bicycles etc. This is for my benefit and well as there. If your dog eats paper I'm not going to leave a roll of toilet paper laying around or in their reach. Do they have any food allergies, sensitive stomach, things that scare them like rain/thunder and how do you handle this? Do they chase squirrels. I'm always scanning 100 feet in front of me to prevent any lunging behaviors. I keep them on par with their home schedules and like to know are they timid, will they sit by the window for a day when you leave so I don't think there is something wrong.
A typical day
My activities are based on you and your dogs preferences. I have taken dogs to the beach, dog parks, walking around town, shopping or have even been a couch potato. I have clients that prefer their dogs don't go anywhere and I abide by that. I always ask if it's okay to take them places. If so, I like to walk/hike and I have a double waist leash that I put my dog and yours on. I go to dog parks if permitted as well.

Pet care is a full time job! I'm home most of the day and if I run out I make sure my dog and your dog are crated to avoid any type of trouble that may arise. If your dog is not crate trained, my is. Either way they are separated while I am out.
