Home All Day/Fully Fenced Yard!

Pet care experience

Hi! Thanks for dropping by my profile. I've been on Rover for years but recently took a break to finalize my parents estates out of country and be with my beloved brother in hospice. That's us together in my profile image. Handsome fella, wasn't he? I'm grateful that I was able to fully be with him in his final time on this earth and thankful I could put my pet services on hold until it was time to return. Rover is such an awesome app! Thank you so very much to all of my incredible loyal canine clients who put so much happiness into my heart!! I love you all!! Currently, I'm available for boarding/daycare/dog walking if you have brought your pet to me before. New clients can book my doggie drop-in-visit services where I would come to your home to care for your pets. This usually entails 2-4 visits throughout the day to take them out for a potty, spend time with them, feed them, etc. One of the first things potential clients do is check the reviews. Don't we all?! I have 154 glowing 5 star reviews and 3 negative reviews. Absolutely every review has been responded to however, the replies may not be viewable unless one is accessing the Rover website from a laptop or PC. They do not always show up when accessing the Rover app from a smartphone. For a comprehensive view, please thoroughly check my profile from a laptop or PC. I have over 40 years of experience and dogs are the loves of my life!! Safety is my first priority and I provide a secure, 6 foot tall fully fenced large yard for the babes to run around and play in. Dogs have full run of my house - mi casa es su casa for my furry friends!! I've been training dogs for decades and also do grooming too! Do your dogs need a bath during their stay? It's only an extra $10 when they stay with me! I regularly perform Pick-Up and Drop-Off Service for my furry friends, as well as Pet Taxi them to vet appointments for their busy parents, $10 each way + compensation for my time. Ask me when you enquire! You'll find I am super friendly, easy to work with, trustworthy, responsible and always flexible. Life happens and we know how to roll when bumps come up in the road! I’ve been a caring & sensitive companion of animals since I was a small child. I cannot remember a time when I haven’t had multiple pets. Over the years, I’ve adopted sick animals whom nobody wanted and nursed them back to glowing health. Several times, I've gone into animal shelters and asked who has been there the longest - which animal keeps getting passed over or returned...that's the one I end up adopting and then we are together for the rest of the animal's life, no matter how much time they have left. My passion is elderly pets - aging animal companions melt my heart! Just last year an elderly husky was dropped off for a stay. The owner kept extending the stay, but eventually confided to me that she could no longer care for her dog. We immediately adopted her gorgeous senior husky girl! After a health check, it was determined that she had very advanced mammary cancer and treatment was not an option, based on her oncology team’s diagnostics. We were devastated but cared for her every need until the end. She was ours for only 8 months and we loved her like crazy! I really am a sap for the seniors! My children share my love for all animals of the world. We are a homeschooling family and therefore home most of the time to care for your pet unless our children have an extra-curricular sporting or academic activity. Our loving family can’t wait to meet your fur-baby and shower them with lots of genuine love, care & affection! Your babe will have plenty of potty breaks in our fully fenced yard - no set limits on how many times per day your pet may need to use the "facilities" or simply run and play - the dogs come and go to the fully privacy-fenced yard as they please! Lots of cuddle time and rest too. In a home-educated environment, there is almost always someone sitting down and curled up with a book which means there is a human to hold space for your pet during their stay. We love a calm, peaceful environment and will provide that for your furry family member. Please note that we have the space in our home to care for several dogs at the same time. I carry additional pet sitter insurance aside from my insurance with Rover and I am insured to care for 5 dogs per night. Sometimes it happens where it’s just your pup booked in and other times, there may be dogs from different families. We welcome your arrival with your pup recently bathed, on a flea/tick protocol and up-to-date on your veterinarian’s vaccinations before we accept any booking.

We've used Valerie to watch our dogs when we're away for 5+ years, and have always had a phenomenal experience. And we plan to keep sending our dogs to her for many years to come. 😁

Valerie and her family stepped in and loved on my babies when we had last minutes out-of-town plans! My babies loved every minute!

Information Valerie D. would like to know about your pet

I keep files for all my pup clients. I always like to know as much as possible about any dog we are caring for including likes and dislikes. My kids have created "lap books" for all of our canine clients...it is the cutest thing ever! If you don't know what a lap book is, definitely google it. I love to know pretty much everything I can - such as how your beloved companion came into your life and your thoughts on their personality. We encourage families to write things down so we can follow how you care for your babe! Your pet will be missing you; we want to help ease any stress by keeping them on the schedule you maintain at home. Once your pet becomes a client with us, the file we keep just for them will contain all their information including any of our own observations so we can keep current info on your pet. Temperament is an important consideration as we have an older dog as well as children. WE CAN'T TAKE ANY FORM OF AGGRESSIVE DOGS WHATSOEVER. Within the Rover Guarantee, your pets are insured from injury during their stay however, NEITHER MY FAMILY NOR I ARE. Any aggression from your pet exhibited toward another dog or any member of my family while staying with me will constitute an emergency call placed to Rover. I play no games with aggression whatsoever. It's important to be honest from the start if there has ever been any type of questionable behavior or outward aggression from your pet toward humans or other animals. Even if a long time has passed since your dog acted aggressively for whatever reason, please don't think that everything will be fine when they go to stay with a sitter. Honestly, this is the exact situation where certain behaviors can come out as the animal is in an unfamiliar environment. Just like with people, you never know what may trigger your dog to act aggressively. How they behave AT home with your family can be all the way different than how a dog behaves AWAY from home. Sharing past experiences makes it so much easier to navigate when various situations may occur. Saying nothing at all and simply "hoping for the best" puts my family and other animals in my care at risk. It's not worth the consequences. There are other sitters who may be better equipped to deal with aggressive pets; I am not one of them. JUMPING DOGS - If you allow/encourage your dog to do this at your home, your dog WILL do this at ours and knock down the kiddos. We understand if a dog is very young and super excited at first and jumps up a bit however, we establish boundaries from the start with the OFF or DOWN command. Ideally, your pup should be trained to not jump up on people; training your dog to not exhibit this behavior is beneficial for every human they encounter. We have had dogs who constantly jump up throughout their entire stay. This can't continue. I don't like having to include this in my profile but it is really, really common that families allow their pups to do this, which has created a need to place this info publicly before a booking takes place. PULLING PUPS - If your dog pulls on walks this makes walking your dog very difficult, especially if we are walking our own pup alongside or perhaps another dog who may be staying with us. What we envision as a lovely neighborhood walk can turn into a chaotic mess with pulling canines. A fantastic solution we HIGHLY recommend over using a only a collar and/or harness is using a head harness (common brand names include Gentle Leader or Halti). These are available from any good pet store in various size for your particular breed - your local pet store staff will be happy to help fit your pup with the right size before purchasing. Training your dog to walk with these types of leads instantly transforms a former puller into a calm, well-behaved and enjoyable pup to walk. Your pup will be able to eat, drink, pant as they normally would - the lead is not restrictive whatsoever in those regards. The Gentle Leader/Halti simply addresses the pulling problem and we can't be grateful enough for its invention!! BEST BRAND EVER HEAD HARNESS FOR DOGS - made by Dogs My Love (sold on Amazon) Should you book with me, I ask that you please respect my time as far as drop-off and pick-up. Since all dogs are free to roam throughout my home, it's extremely important that your arrival time is accurate and that you tell me when you're headed over. What works best for me is that we have pre-arranged the time you'll arrive, then you text me when you are leaving your area with an ETA of how long it will take you to arrive at my place. Once you arrive, text me again and I'll come out to meet you and your pup. I try to be as prepared as possible for your arrival without chaos of dogs barking with excitement from a knock on the door. This has been an issue which is why I mention it. Thank you for taking the time to read some of our main concerns. Pet and people safety is my top priority when caring for your loved one!

A typical day

We may just play fetch or run around in our large fenced-in yard. When we have several pups in for the day (which is usually the case), we play quite a bit outside in the yard (weather-permitting) and the play continues inside as well! On days like these, walking several dogs at the same time is just not safe so we stay home within the safety of our 6' tall, fully fenced & locked yard. The dogs love the space to run and be free to play! Lots of one-on-one attention, cuddles, scratches and naps on cozy dog (and human) beds await your pet! We have plenty of space - if your pup is older or for whatever reason needs to be away from "the pack", we can easily provide that. Some pups need more time on their own or need more rest. We go at your pet's pace, always.
