Val is always great! Will continue to use her. She sends pics and keeps me informed.

Val frequently watches our little chihuahua/corgi mix and I never need to worry about anything when our pup is with her. Val is a true dog-lover and takes excellent care of all her clients. I would recommend Val to anyone looking for a caring dog-sitter!

"Healthy Home / TLC / Safety-First"

I am a retired teacher. My husband and I have been married for 35 years and our 4 daughters are all grown up and have left the nest. After teaching special education, (primarily in District 196) for over 30 years, I very much enjoy having the time to pursue my love for critters. We've consistently had dogs in our home; large, small and in between, that were part of our own family or were boarded ...

What Val would like to know about your dog

I would like to know the dog's general temperament and the commands used. If I have more than one dog at a time, which is often, I will need to know if shots are current, and if there are any dominance or aggression issues to watch for (ie: food aggression). It also helps to know about any behavior quirks ahead of time, which I will do my best to address while the dog is in my care.

When Val watches your pet

We can talk about the type and amount of exercise that is appropriate for your dog. I enjoy taking dogs to dog parks for some off leash free play, exercise and socialization (This is why I prefer that dogs in my care be neutered). We also have a nice 2 mile walking route through our quiet neighborhood, which I use to walk dogs in my care. We have a large front and back yard (not fenced) with grass and mature trees where dogs can play or lie in the sun. Indoors, dogs are allowed on the couch beside me while I read or relax. We have large, low windows in our living room. All dogs seem to enjoy watching the activities outside that include the neighbors, birds, squirrels and an occasional deer. While in my care, good doggy manners will be enforced such as "no begging, no jumping up on others, no biting or excessive barking". Lastly, regarding safety, my husband works from home and unless he is out of town, is available to help in the case of any type of emergency if necessary.
