I’ve been passionate about animals and especially dogs for as long as I can remember. When I was 8 my best friend and I each got the “New Dog Breeds Encyclopedia” I read through the entire thing... multiple times, bookmarking pages of dogs I wanted to have. As I grew up I continued my passion for animals and dogs. I got my first job in 2011 at a large daycare, boarding, grooming facility in Orlando. I worked there seasonally while on breaks home from college at University of Florida. At UF I studied and earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Animal Sciences, while this focused primarily in livestock at UF I also discovered Puppy Raising. In 2015 I learned about Southeastern Guide Dogs and Puppy Raising. Since then I have raised 4 puppies, each puppy comes to my house to live with me for about a year to be raised, loved, and become confident dogs. I teach them basic obedience, leash manners, house manners, and set a solid foundation for when they are called back to Southeastern Guide Dogs campus and begin their training to become guide dogs for the visually impaired, and service dogs for veterans. This lead me to my passion, training dogs to help people. While I am currently between puppies, I am still active in my Raiser group and I’m looking forward to getting my own dog to keep before raising again- it’s been too hard for me to give the pups back and have no dog at home! So once my future pup is old enough I will take the trip again down to Southeastern Guide Dogs to pick up another pup!
