Pet care experience

🦮 I’m not currently starting on *new* accounts for walks. However, my schedule changes often so if you would like me for dog walking, please check back. Existing walk accounts will continue as before. 🐕‍ I am taking on a few *new* drop-in visits. Please ask about schedule openings. Existing drop-in accounts will continue as before. 🐩 I continue to accept *new* pet/house sitting accounts. Existing accounts will continue as before. PET CARE EXPERIENCE: 🐶 I was recently reminded that my mother told me her Rat Terrier helped change my diapers, so I've been around dogs all my life. I think I was six when my parents got our next family dog, a Springer Spaniel/Dachshund/Chihuahua mix we called a "Spridachi." Since then I have almost always been owned by a pet. Currently, two soft, fuzzy, and sometimes grumpy Australian Sugar Gliders. 🐶 I essentially married into a family who was heavily involved with the dog show world. I learned so much more than I would have if I had just been involved with dogs as pets. I joined their kennel club and later was elected to the board. I volunteered my time at dog shows and other events. I even trained some dogs in obedience skills. 🐶 Over the years I’ve had the company of a Chihuahua, a Chihuahua mix, a Dachshund mix, a Papillon, two mix-breed cats, and a sundry of small pets.

Tony is great! She has made herself available for last minute drop-ins several times. She’s very kind, always sends pictures, and the girls just love her.

MEET & GREET ==> This step is for your dog and logistics. Interview-type questions will have been completed **prior** to this point via Rover’s messaging or phone access system. I don't use my personal email. We will have talked about dates and times, special instructions, requirements, etc. Then your pet will meet me, sniff me, bark at me, etc. during our meeting. You will determine if they like me enough to continue. I require social distancing and/or masks when interfacing with all humans. ==> Also at this time, I receive keys or a code to gain access to your pet/s. You may have security concerns. I encourage and hope you have at least one camera in your home so you can keep an eye on your beloved. ==> Please keep in mind that although it's rare, sometimes we are not a good match. It may take a few attempts to make this determination. Your dog may feel perfectly confident when you’re home but freak out when this stranger (me) enters the home without you nearby. Usually, we can tell rather quickly, hence why the Meet & Greet is so important. Owners may also not be a good match. Don’t worry about it. We’ll just cancel the contract. No worries.

A typical day

ON A TYPICAL DAY ==> I love exploring local neighborhoods and finding happy dog places. ==> I also work online with my tablet and phone from wherever I happen to be at any given moment, often as a writer, artist, and videographer. ==> I usually venture home about once a day to feed my own critters and check on things with my family.

Availability

WORK HOURS I will typically return Rover messages until 8 PM. 🐶 I'm sorry to say that I am **not** available on short notice for new accounts. All bookings are made in advance of the needed date/s. A one-time Meet & Greet session is **required** for all new accounts and is held beforehand. This does not apply to established accounts for whom I'm available on short notice if my schedule allows it. 🐶 Walks are currently M-F starting no earlier than 11 AM and ending no later than 6:00 PM. 🐶 30-minute walks. 60-minute arrangements can be negotiated. 🐶 House/pet sitting: This includes care and feeding overnight in your home. I’m not available to be in your home 24/7 because of the weekday walk schedule and personal responsibilities. Any walks beyond short potty breaks (usually morning, 1-2 mid-day, and before bedtime) require a separate booking. 🐶 I attempt to pay close attention to away hours striving for no more than 4 hours at a time if your pet doesn't have outside potty access on their own. However, extenuating circumstances do occur such as traffic issues. I will always keep you posted.
