Pet care experience
Still open for business during the pandemic! I grew up with dogs and have owned one or more my entire life. Currently, I have two dogs that are very respectful, have a welcoming energy, and are great with people and other animals. Ginny and Luna are 4.5 years old and have been trained by me since they were a few months old. They are female siblings, Labrador/Wire haired pointing Griffon, and I take them to the field by my house (75 yards away) every other day in the morning or evening. As with myself, I believe exercise for your dog is highly important. So, your dog is welcomed to come along. If your dog is a bit of a flight risk off leash in the field and won't come on command or is new to my house, I have a large backyard on a corner lot that is fenced in very well. I've got wood chips to give it that dog park feel and have tons of toys :) If it's super muddy and raining, or the grass is really high with weeds, then I usually won't make trips to the field, and will just play in the backyard. I work full time as a rover sitter, have no kids, and live alone, which allows me to care for your dog with attentiveness at all times. My dogs sleep and stay on the furniture so they feel right at home even if I am in the other room. Alternatively, if you would prefer, I can specifically keep your dog off of the couch using commands. I have a very reliable 2019 vehicle in case of any emergencies and I also offer drop off and pickup for 40 cents per mile round trip, and free if you live in Forest Grove. If for any reason I do have to leave the home and a rover dog is present, it will not be for longer than a couple hours. (grocery store, the gym, dinner). I usually time it after their exercise or regular naps if I know I will be leaving. I have a special camera that allows me to receive alerts for dog barking and opens a two way audio communication with the dogs through my cell phone, recognizes any intruders in the house, and allows me to dispense dog treats remotely. I also have a "ring doorbell" for added security. My home is air conditioned/heated and never goes above 77F or below 65F regardless of the temperature outside. Air quality is important to me so much so that I have multiple hepa filtration systems, a roomba vacuum and a high tech Dylos air quality meter(see picture). I am very communicative with animals because I believe that when you treat them intelligently and kindly they will respect you right back and it is a win win for everyone. I believe dogs need individual attention daily so I make sure they get one on one time with me indoors or outdoors while the other Rover dogs are playing with each other. I am very proud to have served my country as a Marine so I run a tight ship. If your dog is unruly or not following directions, I will correct them with care and respect but firmly. NO corporal punishment is ever allowed. If your dog has a bad habit, my method is to continually correct and train them until the behavior is changed. Typically the average dog is instilled with a new command after seven corrections, with continual reinforcement daily for at least a week. So if your dog stays a week, and does not know sit, stay, go away, or stay out of the kitchen, they should when they return to you. My university work was primarily in science (biologist) which provided me a structured educational background for my work. Additionally, I am a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (canine division) which affords me continuing education and interaction with canine professionals. When you entrust me with your dog, I understand that is a huge responsibility which I do not take lightly. I believe that part of that responsibility is to continually prove to you that your dog is safe, in good health and being treated with care, love, and respect. Just as dogs have separation anxieties from their owners, owners have separation anxieties from their dogs. That is why I send a lot of videos in addition to pictures during your dog’s stay with me. I prefer videos to pictures as that gives you a real view of their experience. Of course, if cellular data is an issue or you want some stellar photos for your album, I can focus on sending photos too. I require a meeting before overnight care for 95% of the dogs, with the exception being emergencies and much older and/or calmer breeds. During our meet we will discuss specific rules you wish for me to follow. During the stay, I will follow the rules as well as immediately address any concerns you have. I thank you for your consideration! We all wake up together in the morning and usually at noon they all take a nap which is when I run to the store or the gym. I care for pets with patience and love, but also a firm voice when needed. I encourage a good pack mentality when I have more than a few dogs.
Reviews
Tony is always great. Updates with photos and doggo come home tuckered out from all the fun.
Tony is just wonderful with dogs! Our pup is always happy with him and his dogs, and never wants to come back! He send regular updates through photos and videos, and is very responsive and considerate. This was our dog Kiwi's second long term stay with him, and we will continue to send her to him!
Great experience! My german Sheppard was there for a month. Tony did a great job with him, we received plenty of updates and timely responses. Groot got to play and meet with several dogs while being monitored.
Tony took really good care of our dogs. He is knowledgeable, cool, and nice to the dogs. Great communication before, during and after the stay. Dogs had fun and were returned to us in perfect health despite our dogs special needs. He administered insulin and fed our dog his restricted diet. Loved getting the daily videos. Made us feel at ease.

Information Tony P. would like to know about your pet
I want to know what your dog’s home environment is like so I can grasp what the change to my house will be like to them. This can help me understand their particular anxiety after you leave. I want to understand their personality, routine, favorite snacks, and food requirements. To relieve your dog’s stress and ease the transition, I would like you to bring at least one item, such as a blanket or toys, from home that they like and identify well with.
A typical day
During our meet and greet you and your dog(s) are welcome in my home to sniff it out and once they seem comfortable with their surroundings we'll head to the backyard to meet my dogs in a more open space. As for good exercise, there is this really big field by my house where I always take my dogs to go run just 75 yards down the street and it's a great spot to go in the morning or evening. There are a lot of gopher holes there as well for good smells and digging. I like to play hide and seek with my dogs as well as "find the treat". I also like to throw things in the backyard or the field to play fetch, and just some good ol' fashioned cuddles and belly rubs at night.
