Pet care experience
I have fostered dogs and cats for over 20 years and am comfortable with special needs pets, injections and most pets needs. I enjoy working with all sizes, breeds and personalities. I do very well with anxious, shy dogs but have worked with all personalities and breeds. We are very cautious about introducing new dogs to our dogs, but can easily separate with a walk out ranch. I retired from the medical field and have fairly open availability. My wife is still working full-time and I enjoy spending time with and caring for many different types of animals. I am available during the week and some on weekends. I follow the instructions from the pets owners. Whatever guidelines the owners have, are what I follow in order to keep the pets as comfortable and safe as they normally are in their home. I believe strongly in dog enrichment and positive reinforcement.

Tom is very attentive, gentle and conscientious. I felt super comfortable leaving my anxious, elderly dog with him. A+++ experience and I think my dog had his own nice vacation as well! Will definitely be a repeat client.
Tom was great! He took care of our cats when we went out of town for the weekend, and we didn’t have to worry at all due to Tom’s great communication. He handled our diabetic cat with ease and we could tell both cats were very well loved while we were gone!
Tom is a very caring individual who I trust explicitly to care for my cat, Roz. He is very attentive to her needs and goes above and beyond. When I am gone he takes care of my newspaper pick up and mail pick up and also cleans out the litter box and makes sure she has fresh water every day. I would recommend him highly to anyone who wants a top rate caring person to care for their beloved pets.

I try to follow the routine of the family as best I can when I am pet sitting. With my flexible schedule I generally can make it work to hit meal times and rise and wake times. Keeping to a similar routine, makes it easier when a pet's favorite people are away.
Information Tom B. would like to know about your pet
I really like to know everything important to the dog. What he loves and what he hates are equally important. If your dog is terrified of storms, I would like to know what helps them calm down or how to soothe them. Similarly, if you dog loves to walk in the park and bark at the frogs on the bank to make them jump in the water, I would like to know. Medications, food and sleep routine are important but anything that adds to your pets quality of life would be great. I realize that when their people are away can be a very stressful time for a dog or cat. Anything you can tell me to make it easier I appreciate.
A typical day
All dogs love different activities. My hound loves long leash walks slowly through the park with her nose to the ground. My Dobie mix loves learning new tricks and earning his treats. We do snuffle mats and kongs frequently. Just depends on the dog. Some dogs love nothing more than to take a car ride or curl in your lap and watch a movie.

I am retired (except for pet care) and have a very flexible schedule. My wife works from home full time and I like to have activities to fill my day. I enjoy meeting people and animals. Between my wife and I, we usually can have someone home at all times.
