Pet care experience
My wife Shawna and I have been providing pets with long and short term overnight care through rover and similar sites since 2015. We have had the pleasure of hosting more than 400 dogs, cats and other pets. We have never denied a safe comfy place to any pet based on breed, size, age, reproductive status, health, disability or emotional/behavioral issues. Some of our most loved guests have also at times been the most challenging! We have extensive experience with senior dogs, anxiety and behavioral conditions as well as physical impairment/disability, including with our own beloved rescues, our Beagle Lucy (1999 to 2019) and Abby (2006 to 2022), our Bassett. Our newest family member is Enki. He is a captivating 1 year old Maltese. He's a rather tiny ball of fluff (though he doesn't believe that at all), so we keep him seperated with a pet gate from all but the tiniest pups to prevent any accidental injuries. He is a relentlessly playful little guy, so sometimes even the tiniest ones need a barrier for their own peace and comfort. We will welcome your furry loved ones as though they are part of our family. From the moment they arrive we try to make them feel as comfortable and and loved as though they were our own for the duration of their stay. Someone will always be there with them (if not myself, my wife is always home with them). Over the years we have developed effective ways to accommodate your furry family members needs and we have never had any incidents involving any lost or injured guests. Our house is on a VERY busy road but has a nice, fully enclosed front and side yard for play, potty and excersize. Inside we have plenty of space to accommodate your pets and they are welcome to sleep and play wherever they like. They will be cuddled and snuggled as often as they will allow it.

We went away for several weeks for our destination wedding and honeymoon recently. We were nervous about leaving our older dog Rocket with anyone for that long, but our fears were unnecessary. Tinker sent us pictures and videos of Rocket while we were away, and was always just a quick text away. Rocket came home to us safe and sound, clearly having enjoyed his own vacation time away. Our doggo was in great hands and I’d recommend Tinker to anyone in need of a sitter. Thanks Tinker!!

We will make any reasonable adjustments that might be needed to our setup in order to accommodate your pets specific needs. We have crates if needed (or room for theirs) as well as safety gates for stairs, trash cans and toilets. Pets go outside through the side door into a clean, well kept and fully fenced in yard, where they are always supervised. The only other door we use opens to a mudroom, making any possible attempts to go find you, or to chase squirrels doomed. Medications can be administered and diet and grooming needs followed.

Knowing your pets specific vocabulary is helpful as well as any routines that they might feel confused or sad without following. Please let us know if there is any history of fighting with other dogs or biting people so we can take any needed precautions. Please let us know feeding schedule and habits (history of food aggression) any dietary restrictions or medical conditions.
A typical day
Our girls got old and lazy with us. They were mostly blind and sometimes grumpy (when it came to being made to do stuff). We have a tiny Maltese that keeps us on our toes but doesn't require much space or extra activity on our part. We live in a tidy and roomy house and have a fully fenced in yard that is great for anyone who wants or needs to play outside (always supervised). There is also a lovely place to walk by the river to the front of our house and a dog park out to the back for those who are more inclined to go somewhere. We always have extra plushies, chew toys, fuzzy blankies and food and water bowls. Snacks and treats if allowed are also provided. Cuddle time is nearly mandatory no matter how limited lap space is. Playing all day in between chores is to be expected.

I work full time and spend the rest of my time at home with my wife and the dogs. Shawna stays home with them full time. I can be available for meet and greets weekdays after 6pm and anytime on the weekends. We prefer drop offs and pick up times to be when I am at home, but we are flexible if that doesn't work for you.
