I have grown up with Golden Retrievers from childhood, through my teenage years and as an adult. This was the only dog my father would care for. My father wasn't a hunter of any sort he just loved this breed of dog. I on the other hand liking the larger breed canine, have found myself adopting and rescuing labs; Yellow lab, Black lab mix, Lab Coon mix, Border Collie mix. I don't know where this inner voice came from suggesting I look in other places other than a strip mall or puppy mill. I hope someday we won't need shelters and rescues where a dogs future is uncertain. Pet overpopulation needs to be a thing of the past and only WE can change the future.
