Loving and experienced pet sitter!

Pet care experience

Covid policy: I will wear a mask to meet and greets if you prefer it, please don't hesitate to ask. Hello! I'm Therese (tah-rez) or Trez for short. I have been walking dogs and pet-sitting since I was 12 or so. I started my business by sitting for neighbors dogs and cats (and a few pet rats!), and my own little business branched into working for a dog walking company in Maryland for about 7 years. I also worked for a dogwalking company in Denver, CO for about a year after college, and as a Rover petsitter in MT for about 6 years. I have met many wonderful animals as a walker/sitter and would love to meet more. I have a lot of experience working with rescued dogs and cats, as I have adopted two shih tzus from the shelter system with my family, and have taken care of many more rescued pets through previous petcare businesses. I understand willful, nippy, or anxious dogs, as I have lived with some! I am very flexible, and will try to accommodate anything you might want for your dog. I like to follow the dogs lead in what they want to do during a visit (when it's appropriate behavior), which usually results in a fun, enjoyable stay for both of us! As mentioned above, I have been in the pet sitting business for about 20 years. I have a lot of experience in handling dogs and cats, reacting to questionable situations, and being responsible for pets and homes. I am flexible, reliable, attentive, and caring! I love spending time with dogs and cats, and will try to make the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for them while you are away. Why I love dog sitting I have always loved dogs! They are wonderful beings to spend time with, each one having their own personality and preferences. When I started walking my neighbor's yellow lab Ben at age 12, I built a relationship with him and with his owner that has lasted even after Ben passed away. Good relationships with the dogs and with their owners are what I strive for. My experience administering medication I have fed dogs and cats pills before, put medicine in their ears, and mixed liquid medicine into their food.

For almost 3 years, Therese has been an integral part of my dog Ollie’s life! He looks forward to their walks & adventures!! She has always been communicative & sent me comprehensive “cards” so I knew at work… how he was, any issues & when he was walked. She was impeccable with safety & security during Covid. She made room in her schedule to help with Ollie when I had a knee injury! She’s an amazing person & I would recommend her wholeheartedly. Montana’s loss is your gain! Ollie 🐕‍🦺 sends highest recommendations… in icy weather & in summer! “ 10 stars… ruff “

Five stars for Therese! She's a fantastic communicator - confirming dates a couple of days in advance and asking for clarification on instructions when needed. My mind was totally at ease while we were away. Upon our return, our cat seemed totally unfazed that we had been gone! Best indication of a great pet sitter in my book!

I like going over the dog or cats routine at the meet and greet, so I know what they are used to and what will make them most comfortable. If they have a habit of getting into the trash when they’re anxious, or they need to stay away from other dogs on walks, or are usually crated at night, I would like to know so they can have a similar routine and care while I am there.

Information Therese R. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preferences, I love all dogs and love getting to know their personalities. I do like to know how they act on walks, whether they are shy or enthusiastic about meeting other dogs, whether they are scavengers in the street, or whether they are picky eaters. Every dog is different and I can do my best to make sure they feel comfortable in the situation while you are away if I know a lot about their habits, quirks, and training. I also like to know what kind of harness they might have for walks. I am a big fan of front clip harnesses because they are gentler on the dogs neck, and they make it easier to safely control enthusiastic pups on walks.

A typical day

Time I'll spend with your dog For house-sitting, I typically define one night as between 6pm and 9am. If I ever have to go out in the evening due to previously scheduled commitments, I make sure to make that time up for the pups during the day. I do charge an extra drop-in visit for arriving earlier than 5pm on the day you leave, or staying later than 9am on the day you come home. I will give the dogs/cats a lot of quality time for the days I am there. I love going on walks, so if the pups need walks twice a day, I am all about it! I typically do morning and afternoon walks for pups, or play with them in the yard depending on what your dog is used to. I can guarantee that they will get good quality time with me morning and evening at the very least, and on cold winter days they might even have me all day. I love going on walks and hikes, and I love cuddling with dogs and cats, so those will be the main activities when I am with your pet! Extra house-sitting services I am accustomed to doing whatever extra little tasks are needed. Watering plants, bringing in mail and newspapers, or closing the blinds at night would all be included. Often at the end of housesits I throw the sheets in the wash, take out the trash and recycling, and do a cursory cleaning of the place as well.
