Hi guys! My name is Tanya, and I am originally from Ukraine. My husband, a 9 years old son and I have been here for 2 years. I’ve not ever been a professional pet sitter, but dogs have been my love since I was a child. Unfortunately street dogs are a very common appearance in Ukraine, so my mother always joked I would collect them all if we had enough space in our house. I had a lot of pets in Ukraine during my lifetime. All of them found a new home in my place after being homeless. Some of them were adapted by my good friends, not without my aid. I clearly remember how a few years ago we brought our new cat Murchyk to the pet hospital in the middle of the night. The doctor pulled a huge fish bone out of his throat and said the cat would die if we did not do that in time. Subsequently, after that surgery and a course of antibiotiс he healed completely and became a best friend for our son. I was trying to comfort our last dog in Ukraine for a half of a year after he was abused by a cruel man, who beat him constantly. When Dyck became a part of our family he was terrified of everything. He did not bark at all. He was shuddering from any unexpected noise. He was afraid to eat from his own plate, and moreover he defecated every time when someone came to him too close. He ran away a few times. It was heartbreaking to watch how he suffered. After 6 month of a calming routine, meals in the same time and place, long walks in the same routes, thousands of hugs and kisses I finally heard his first happy “Woof”. Even now I can't think of him without tears. He was my biggest love and pain. He spent his last year being safe and absolutely loved. Here, in the US we naturally have pets too, and as usual they found us by themselves. Tom and Bob did a sleepover under my husband's car hood. We found them shuttered the next morning on our way to school. They were only a few weeks old and our son asked about keeping kittens. It wasn’t the right time because I did not have a job, and my husband worked so hard two jobs to provide for his family, and pay for my ESOL classes. Although we did not have a lot of money and time, we kept them both. It was no doubt. Our Benji is the cutest puppy in the whole world. My lovely friend gave it to me, after she watched us playing in her backyard. I was not ready for a new dog. I believed that because my heart still hurt after Dyck. I thought I could not love someone as strong as I loved him, and it would not be fair. I’ll never patch up the hole in my heart with another dog, but now I realized it is fine. It is how things work in life. Thanks to Dyck my heart became bigger and can hold even more. Benji is a Yorkie Poo, and I am crazy about his hair. It is my biggest pleasure to give him a bath and comb it. He is kind, calm, active and friendly. He is ready to greet new friends. We love walking in Orchard Park, which is very close to our place, so if you want we can include physical activity for your furry friend routine.
