Pet care experience
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I cared for animals of all sizes and species, and all of my childhood pets were my responsibility (dogs, cats, snakes, rodents, fish, and the occasional injured wild animal). Since then, my love of animals has only grown! I began pet-sitting in 2007 and continued through high school. In 2013, I moved up to Tacoma, Washington for college, during which I worked as a pet-sitter and dog walker. After graduating with my B.A. in psychology and neuroscience, I worked full-time as a veterinary assistant at an emergency veterinary hospital, where I received in-depth training in veterinary care basics and animal health issues. After moving back home to Woodside in September 2019, I turned my focus towards applying to graduate school, where I plan on earning my PhD in behavioral neuroscience. Because I have been studying for the GRE, pet care has become my full-time job, meaning that I am able to spend full days and nights with your pets. Because of my extensive experience, I am confident handling rare or potentially dangerous situations that may occur. I ask every owner to leave their vet’s name, number, and address, should something come up. In addition, I can administer any medications your pet needs, including subcutaneous injections. I am also certified in Pet CPR & First Aid. I understand that each pet has their own personality and set of needs and promise to meet those needs to the best of my abilities. In particular, I have experience with dogs of all sizes (from Great Danes to Chihuahuas) that are special needs, shy, or aggressive in certain situations¬. In addition, I always keep your home clean and safe for your pets. Before leaving for the final time, I complete all basic household chores, including doing any necessary laundry, vacuuming, washing and changing the sheets, and taking out all garbage and recycling. I know how exhausting traveling can be, and I aim to make your transition back home as seamless as possible. Lastly, I will always treat your pets as if they were my own. My top priorities while caring for your pets are their happiness and safety, and that you feel confident that your babies are in great hands. I know how hard it can be to find someone you trust to care for your babies as you care for them. I keep owners posted of how their furry friends are doing via pictures and frequent updates, and I never hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. Every pet is different, and I develop my own relationship with each of them during my stay. I still visit the animals I've cared for in the past -- after all, I get attached to your pets, too! I love every animal I care for-- I can't wait to fall in love with yours, too!
Reviews
Tess did a great job taking care of my boys. They both seamed very happy when I got home . Will Be happy to book with her again on my next trip.
Tess is detail oriented and professional. Our dog was well taken care of and the house was in good order when we returned from a 5 day trip. Be explicit with what you want so you and Tess are on the same page and you’ll be in great hands.
We have complete trust and faith in Tess and know she will take good care of our pup. She is responsible, conscientious and respectful. We will absolutely hire her again when her schedule permits!
Tess is wonderful. We did a meet and greet and my pup was clearly enthralled by her. She is very knowledgeable and competent. I was anxious leaving our dog since he’s been home with us constantly since the pandemic started but meeting Tess and knowing she was giving full love and attention to him in our absence put my mind at ease. She took good care of our house too. Thank you Tess!
